This obsession that RM have with gaining signatures is odd. I thought that their main aim is to be like Evri, DPD, Amazon etc. Well none of these companies gain a signature from a customer and in fact they just take a photo of an item sitting on the path in the rain.

I find this ironic as well GRS. Now some packets need a photo and a signature .... meanwhile there's several packets from other Couriers lying up the path, and in the garden!

And ST wants us to strive to equal the performance of our competitors? I think we'd need to drop our standards. Perhaps that's why those suppliers aree using us in the first place?

This is how I feel also I don't sign for anything especially special delivery because of the punishment that you would get.I take it other couriers aren't worried about that as they leave stuff everywhere.So I will never be as fast unless royal mail adopt the same principles as other couriers.

That's just proof you stood in front of an open door, not that you handed the parcel over to the customer? What you are gaining by not obtaining a signature, just saving time which RM clearly don't want you to save.

Think it's only going to be a matter of time before RM crackdown on the excessive use of DWS. My guess is that they're getting way too many complaints from the larger customers about not getting a signature

Can't believe that if a customer sends by RM they insist on a signature and a photo yet if they use another courier they couldn't give two sh***s if it's even at the right house let alone sitting out in the rain for six hours. If we should have learnt one thing from COVID it's that handing a device between 100 odd people in a relatively short time frame with no way of cleaning it is not a particularly good idea. You hear people flushing the bog, people preparing food like raw meat, parents changing babies nappies, carers doing goodness knows what wearing disposable gloves all answering the door to you and handling the PDA. It's really something that needs done away with.

Best guess is that RM have seen a massive increase of denial of receipt instances

Had a similar from a friend of a friend who got in touch with me because due to his letterbox (one of those old stiff ones), the postie wasn’t pushing his bi weekly magazine all the way through but leaving it wedged in. He complained about losing heat from his home, really petty.

I said best thing to do is have a word with the postman or leave him a polite note. I specifically said to him under no circumstances put in a complaint.

He couldn’t help himself and a few weeks later posted on Twitter that he’d received a cheque for £20 from RM for loss of heat after putting in an official complaint.

About a month later he messages to say he’s fed up with his magazine (and parcels, which used to be left in his shed) being P739’d.

There are plenty of little anecdotes like that where the Postman usually has the last laugh. They would be surprised what he can do to make their lives more difficult ! I would have started carding everything too! Good on him.
