Is that 30 mins flex as it has always been? Voluntary & must be given back in the same week? If so, it means nothing. Everyone is within their rights to say no to flexing.koolishy67 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 06:02Everything going ahead done and dusted by end of this month only good thing is we don't have to start late 2 Hours just 30 min flex at the moment

It means when it all goes tits up in the future and fails they will point to us and say “well it was your union who agreed it”
Remember who got blamed for the last clusterfeck of a revision not working? It wasn’t the bosses.

Re: So what exactly does the joint statement mean?
When the Com at our office was confronted about the agreement he just laughed and said everything is staying and planned revisions are going ahead no matter what. Are rep has thrown a disagreement in against him and the EA actions for what it’s worth….
Never mind are Rep who is the area rep as well who advised everyone not to complete the preference exercise a few months ago funny enough has taken VR it was found out.
( ship a sinking deserting ) comes to mind.

Re: So what exactly does the joint statement mean?
I was a rep for another union in 1990. I was new to the job and I attended a union conference in Manchester. At the end of the first day, a load of reps got together for a drink. Later in the night that song "you won't get me I'm part of the union" broke out, people with smug red faces singing along in their self satisfied ways. I realised then that most of the union reps were there for their own self importance.
When I saw the scenes of Dave dancing with a brolly and various picket line frolics I realised that nothing really ever changes.
The CWU have made the massive mistake of trusting the integrity of Royal Mail.
We all know whatever Royal Mail say and actually do is a different matter altogether.
We've been strung along for the best part of a year for a reason, to facilitate the major changes.
For me, we have been weak and any future 'agreement' will be further ignored by Royal Mail moving forward.

Still being attacked in the workplace nothing has changed in fact it seems to have given the green light for more EA.
Ward and Co need to hang their head in shame, disgraceful stuff.

I must admit at our office over the last 25 years several union reps have gone on to be line managers and a couple of them Doms.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 14:01I was a rep for another union in 1990. Same in our office, managers thought the joint statement a huge joke, still bringing in all the changes on Monday....there should be a PEC meeting this afternoon and announce strike dates from 14 days time until the six month renewal

Re: So what exactly does the joint statement mean?
Look if they don't comply with the statement your rep should be on to head office of CWU. If you don't have a rep get one and do the same. Then there is the rule 13 ballot and take it from there.

needadvice wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 14:23We needed to strike for a long enough period to back up the operation beyond the few days here and there that gave that operation a reasonable recovery time. We needed a solid two week rolling strike, and we needed a Union who didn't make legal mistakes when announcing the days we were supposed to strike.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 14:01True, CWU have given RM too much slack. Re: So what exactly does the joint statement mean?
Why is the onus being put on unpaid reps to challenge RM in an already tense and stressful situation.
Dave Ward and Andy Fury get paid the big bucks, they should be taking charge and threatening/calling strikes.
This joint statement was a load of tripe just meant to change the face of the dispute from being the CWU HQs problem to out on the shop floor.

1. These revisions are designed to align hours to workload and improve productivity, recognising that there has been significant overall volume decline.theargyspy wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 14:51Same in our office, managers thought the joint statement a huge joke, still bringing in all the changes on Monday....there should be a PEC meeting this afternoon and announce strike dates from 14 days time until the six month renewal
Given that the agreement allows them to improve productivity, why would all the changes be stopped from being brought in on Monday?
All revisions to be completed by the end of March.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: So what exactly does the joint statement mean?
I've sensed a change from the Dave Ward 'we'll strike til next Christmas' rhetoric to the Dave Ward who looks to be now relying on Brendon Barber to get him out of this god awful hole.norm wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 15:08Why is the onus being put on unpaid reps to challenge RM in an already tense and stressful situation.

I just don't see how they can go from nowhere as we are now, to all the issues being resolved in this dispute by next Sunday.
