Yes, I agree. RM in their wisdom have decided to make us work later on a Saturday, while increasing amounts of packets are arriving from eBayers for Saturday delivery. Their solution is to close more post offices!

All letters should be delivered every day and I can't see any reason for not delivering them - or is there a reason?
If they were kill offs then put then re-post them on behalf of the people who refused them.
If they needed signatures then you should have phoned the office to confirm delivery.

If he couldn't be bothered to go back and redeliver this miss prepped mail and also decided he couldn't be bothered even to return them to the office in his car then I think he deserves what he gets. I personally think that should be a warning and no more given todays climate of mail being undelivered on a regular basis (not like it used to be - in our office at least) but still even if you want to finish early on a Saturday you are still paid to do teh job.

Dogs Loose, Temporary No Access, Boarded Up, Gone Aways, Shops Closed etc All these get pouched off in my area.

Otherwise fully agree with what you say. Even in the worse case and you have been unable to pouch off at least try to contact your Manager and explain the situation. In the very worst case that you can't contact him, go to your nearest business park as these usually have high capacity post boxes, the ones with the pull out trays for metered post, and although you are not meant to use them, at least they will be out of your hair and would stop the original situation from happening.

For the OP I am afraid there is nothing we can do to advise, he has been caught red handed despite knowing it was against the rules. All he can do now is front up and be honest and admit to making a mistake, hopefully he will get off with a warning.

What if someone else has prepped your walk and its full of missorts , and if you where to back track with each item it would hold you up and take you over you time, what do you do?

I accept that people make mistakes and then redeliver them although I do mostly do town walks on a bicyle and I appreciate this isn't always possible. There aren't any jobs in our office that require you to go beyond the office closing time, even on a Saturday.

Bad news.Any dead mail should be endorsed and if unable to pouch off thrown in a regular post box.This ought to be fine as it goes back through the sytem and killed off at a later date.NEVER take mail home.

A pouch box is a secure box that Posties drop bags into for the next part of the round. You can also have Safe Drops which serve the same purpose. You do not need these if you use a HCT (High Capacity Trolley) or are close enough to be able to go back to the office after every bag.

Random bag search, guy came in early to work,(although not to start work) manager stops him at door, asks to search bag, he replies, bags in car, you can search it when i officially start work.

Boss says no, i may as well search it now, so mate opens boot of car, 10 endorsed letters from saturday in it - this is monday btw.
Question, is manager within rights to search car?
He was stupid i know to let her do it,hes relatively new to the job, but hindsights a wonderful thing.

In our area we have no pouch boxes, very few safe drops and no HCTs yet - and I'm blowed if I'm going to cycle back to the office for each bag. For those doing the job properly and not using their car your extra bags are bought out to you one at a time and at the time you want it. What amazes me about a national organisation such as RM is how many local differences there seem to be in the way we work
