This thread/poll is not about getting rid of Saturdays but ensuring that everybody gets a long weekend every 6 weeks.

Maybe people should read the topic first instead of assuming that it's what they want. :mad

OK, I'll not stoop to your level and start calling you names but if we start using the rules to our benefit and not RM's benefit then maybe we'll save our own jobs and not get worked into an early grave.

Indeed, in hindsight the poll could be better worded.

Regular though means on a regular basis, not every as in every Saturday.

No senority has not been abolished for it does not come under the age discrimination act!. For it is simply the best way to get the staff with the necessary experience to do any of the jobs in the office!.
now what we`ve been told.
There obviously speaks a man with little or no seniority!!!

Seniority is not deemed discriminatory via the age discrimination act. Royal Mail tries to use this act to abolish seniority but the unions lawyers got the better of them. There is a section in the act that says employers can reward employees for 'loyalty' - Seniority = length of service = loyalty
I agree, seniority does equal length of service, but loyalty is something completely different.

An analogy - I have 2 dogs that I got as puppies, one I have had for about 10 years and the other for just a couple. You could say that the older dog is more senior to the younger one, but if they are loyal to me and do as they are told they both get an equal amount of treats. But the younger one knows the older is higher up in the pecking order and lets him have first sitting at the dinner bowl.

It is all about everyone being treated equally, yet knowing your place and respecting workmates that are senior to you.

Regular (rotating) Saturdays off for everyone - please vote.

Well our office works the 5 weeks on 1 week off & it works really well, you can have a full week off, work part or all of it, 48 hours overtime in 1 hit. But if you want to decorate the spare room, you have all week to do it in.
Also its great at holiday time, you book one week off either side of your rest week & you can have a fortnight in the sun with only one weeks leave booked, life couldn't be better (well actually it could, but we all need to earn).
PS
Everybody in our office hates the term Wallington week, we have one tosser who keeps referring to them as wally weeks & that is exactly what everyone thinks he is, A FIRST CLASS WALLY (said without swearing).
