Well, can someone please tell me what the point of waiting in the office for so long is.
Why are the missort runs held back..........????
f**k me, DHL and TNT only have to start up a rival service and ensure that their guys get out early and the jobs shot. Customers want their post early and thats a fact. Christ, under this new package I think we are truly f****d.

Removing ANY obstacles to the time we leave the office will work only in RM's favour - all the POVF's who have come in early and missed their breaks will be encouraged to take even more short cuts and steal more time off the IPS to get away early and leave the guys and gals who do the job properly unsupported whilst they benefit from everyone else's work.
Personally - I wouldn't let anyone out of the office until everyone else is thrown out and ready to bag up, unless it's to service businesses with special requirements or nine am specials.
Inconsistency of start/finish times and delivery spans is causing conflict all over the country - which is what RMs "local negotiation" and "autonomous management" policies were designed for.

We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

delivery office staff can't leave office till 9.30
The missort run was reintroduced into our office 2 weeks ago. We CANNOT leave until the missorts have been sorted we were told
Last week was half term and basically we had virtually no sorters at work. Then hey presto the missorts were not touched for 2 DAYS because we never finished the IPS until 8.30!!!!!! So why suddenly was THIS NATIONAL AGREEMENT totally ignored??
Perhaps the DOM realised what his OT form would be like at the end of the week!!

PARTIME STAFF WHEN DO'S YOURS START?
I rearly do think this has some thing to do with this whole thread for you can not go till they go and when the ratio get's higher it will take even longer to sort/prep this is the future creeping upon us!.

So they are 30 hour contract staff when your 24 hour or less start ie no prep/full time postie prep you will soon see the impact!.mick5eye wrote:at my office the part time staff start at 7.30k979aaa wrote:I rearly do think this has some thing to do with this whole thread for you can not go till they go and when the ratio get's higher it will take even longer to sort/prep this is the future creeping upon us!.

I'm part time, contracted to start at 9am. It can be a case of everyone waiting till everyone else has thrown in, but a lot of the time, people still leave at around 10, even if someone is still throwing in at that time (part time or otherwise).
This would probably be helped if more help was given to part timers doing the sorting, especially if they are put on a new walk.

Anyways, down our way,we usually leave the office bout 10ish,after we've had our break and done the missorts.
That's the norm, except tuesdays can be 9-30 ish and sat about the same.
Some days we cut it fine and usually make bout 30mins out of the job, flexywatnot, bring it on!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
