I agree with most of the sentiment on this thread. After Dave Ward puts in a great performance and Simon Thompson is caught out for being elusive, misleading and in some cases lying it was almost a perfect outcome but anyone watching that could not help be distracted by CWU's Head of Communications (yes "Head of Communications"!!) acting like a 10 year old with his mate. And it was almost as if he knew what he was doing and thought it was an effective communication strategy I am surprised the 2 of them weren't asked to leave the room to be honest.

Saying Parliamentary select committees are meaningless shows a serious lack of understanding on the powers they do have. For a start they are cross bench members and an extension of the House of Commons. Imprisonment or a substantial fine could theoretically be imposed as a punishment by parliament on anyone who told lies in evidence to a select committee. Witnesses now can take an oath before giving evidence, lying then is perjury.

It'd be more relevant if it was still a publicly run service. Thompson got a tough time, but I fail to see what difference it really makes. The government are not going to intervene, and I very much doubt the incoming Labour (probably) government are going to do much either.

Didn't see it as I have not got the energy to go through the whole session, but...

I agree the two blokes that held up "vote yes" shouldn't have done it but I doubt the CWU put them up to it. There were a number of things that were cringe worthy yesterday and that was the least of them. Sorry.


I think if you check you'll discover that one of the people holding up a sign was the CWU's Head of Communication...

have just looked, and yes you are correct. I'm not impressed. So that's another person that could've showed themselves and their company in a much better light.

Unfortunately it seems the CWU and various colleagues have decided to post incorrect and offensive posts on social media. It is a shame the union, which is meant to be representing my colleagues here, is instead taking its time to post this sort of rubbish instead of engaging in meaningful actions to move forward with the things the posties need. Feel free to tag anyone you recognise from these posts/comments - action will be taken.
I am not the head of cyber security and I did not get paid anything over and above my normal pay for working on strike days.

I’ve always found the unions comms very childish even before the dispute. Another yes vote is almost guaranteed there no need to target some bloke because he posted a picture of himself in a van.

They honest to god need to shut the hell up. The reporting on what Thompson and the company is doing should be shared, in agreement with that. But, the childish insults and engaging in the trolling on Twitter is embarrassing and lowers us to the CEOs level. Especially considering it's a public domain, least Simon Thompson can hide in his little bubble.

Honestly i am happy for people who post disgusting thing on social media towards management and people breaking strike to get disciplined or suspended. Its disgusting and been happening all dispute. The internet should not be a safe haven where you can post your disgusting comments. If you wouldnt say it in person do not say it on the internet.

I wouldn't worry about it being childish has anyone watched all those MP's in parliament its like a bunch of primary school kids,as for Thompson his childish behaviour in all of this out weighs any of this.
