What makes these changes so irreversible or changeable?

I think they're the opposite, actually. Just dividing up a number of whole walks and giving an extra loop off them to every duty, that's very reversible, you just put someone back on the walk. I'm optimistic that this is quite possibly the plan, if getting the work done has to become a priority over saving money at some point, or when the planners came in they would have re-jigged all the duties and made them bigger. Maybe? Hopefully.

Well that depends on the remit ie profit or service you cannot have both at the sametime!

That's the key to this whole dispute really isn't it?

You can have a good service for the public with good jobs for workers. Or you can stuff the pockets of rich shareholders and execs. You can't do both.

They have given us notice that times are moving from 6.30 to 7.10. A disagreement has gone in.

Sounds like he is still up to his union busting tricks,im voting yes and the only way to stop this loon now is to up the strikes.

Seems like he’s trying to strong arm shareholders into selling through ludicrous management. If these revisions stick and redundancies go through we won’t have the capacity to take on the contracts that were lost. If we vote yes and they lose more big hitters (boots, John Lewis) then it’s game over for them.

Some of your stories about lapsing/absorbing are quite terrible, really.
I have had about 80 houses added on to my walk and I still finish early. Some finish earlier than me and can be found loitering inside the local pub. In sunnier times most stroll down the beach but I actually thought this lapsing would put an end to finishing early.
Originally we were told ‘x’ amount of walks were to be absorbed and in the end it was half of that amount. I think we could have doubled our lapsing and still not failed to complete.
Maybe it’s different down here. The mail is crazy. I had less than 20 letters for a street yesterday with over 100 houses on it. Was busier today but not too bad.

Thinking about it, I think our office only did half of the original amount of absorbing because we haven’t replaced staff recently and they are essentially unpicked duties. I wonder if more lapsing will appear when the next few retire/leave.

What area are you in I need a transfer there we haven’t a chance in hell of finishing

Told today start times are changing, 200 hours out of the office (with 7 vacancies) They are meant to have rolled back whilst talks are ongoing.No chance of an agreement. Just more strikes.We must continue to fight this crap.Totally poor management at all levels.
