Once these changes are in place, there will be no going back.
What makes these changes so irreversible or unchangeable?

Shared duty 1100 houses, usually 1 hour over, coz we don't run around (unable to) now with 400+ added , along with the prepping, d2d, etc etc. Today we were asked if we had any illness that meant we couldn't do the job - old age and arthritis NOT a reason. Probably unable to stay in current pairings, possibly changing your days off whenever they desire, and this WILL start on February 27th. What if we don't agree to changes, don't apply for unworkable duties, can they force us onto any duty ? Mental health and stress reaching boiling point, makes me want to just pack it in after 30 years 😠

It's generally what happens, for example full timer leaves, duty gets a part timer on it "temporarily", new builds get added on to a duty "temporarily" you get the picture, they never go back to how they were.

I'm picking up on the unable to stay in current pairings bit, that's been mentioned on here recently, so basically if you're an old bugger like me and I'm guessing you are too then they're planning on putting us with a runner to either speed us up or kill us off ! How can that be a good idea.

Just having to sort another loop of mail and parcels as well as do redirections, deads, door2doors and bag the extra loop up is going to cost people another 15 minutes or so. This is going to result in us delivering less than we currently do. Not only will we be bringing this newly added loop back to the office undelivered, we will also be bringing back another loop of mail that we would have otherwise delivered.

Where is the logic.

Quite right Norris9, but lets just enjoy it eh?

I'm very nerdy on this matter having been a trained but unqualified surveyor in another life.

I've calculated that despite an extra 25% in attributed workload and without shirking, lurking, cutting corners or dragging the feet but working as directed and as per company policy to nearest decimal point, I'm actually doing a good 25-30% less physical work every day.

This is a good thing in my book and I'm reluctant to divulge it lest the top people realise their incompetance therein however, they are too far up their own arses to consider any other trajectory to the one that PWC (?...the best most likely consultancy that's running the country ATM) has sold them.

The reasons are as you described plus other travelling time plus specials having to have their own special loop plus (the now defunct) packets and tracked having a priority delivery span (this will be replaced by tracked and parcels having an unofficial priority delivery-span for health and safety reasons...so no change bar the rhetoric).

So working day = Inward work (increased by 1 hour to 2-3 hours) > travel > absorbtion > travel > special deliveries + parcels in rolled-over portion of duty > travel > however much of non-rolled-over delivery can be effected before....> travel > back to yard minus 15 mins before finish time to admin whatever came back.

25-30% less physical work every day !

Hilarious.

My delivery takes me 4 and a half to 5 hours on average and I consider myself fit and able to deliver at a very good speed. When the revision comes in I will have 766 more delivery points, the whole of another walk. This is 8 loops, each loop an average of 30 minutes. Between 2 of us that’s an extra 2 hours delivering on top of the 4 and a half hours we currently do. We will have 6 and a half hours delivery plus 40 minutes meal relief and let’s say 3 hours to prep it. Each pair in my office will need at least 10 to 11 hour days to complete. We will have a total of 1779 houses, 20% door to door and 80% driveways. How is this ever a manageable workload? Are we going to be supplied with bright red E scooters? or are we expected to run?

I’m finding this all very bizarre how we are really expected to have 2 hours more delivering which will take more time to prep so later out the door and probably won’t even fit into our already full to the brim van.
This has to be an exaggeration

No one can be getting 8 loops of 766 calls, an entire walk, added to them

I don’t believe it
Totally unachievable..justvwork to your time and keep bring it back

Strange thing about Royal mail is nothing is standardised across the company. I understand that all duties and workloads can be equal, but the differences can be enormous.
Both duties I work on are at a thousand delivery points. Most in the office are there or there abouts. Some a little more, some a few less and have been for many years.A golden couple at The 850 mark . These are not in high terraced areas.
We have unassigned new builds all over the place that end up on your frame being allocated but untimed. And still they want lapsing.
The job is impossible now

Yeah a few of us in our 60's with a body of 70 ha ha. Really want Unite to come out on strike again as most dom's must be against the changes. IF i believe everything about the daily losses - and considering current workloads (fairly busy), then i guess the company has no future on the figures. Cant understand the logic of taking say 1 hr driving oversize, and adding 2 hr extra walking, just bloody madness. Management meetings must be like the Marx Brothers.

Been talking for nearly 2 weeks & haven't spoke about pay & change until today, f**k me, what did they talk about, the f**king weather. And they expect us support them, both as useless as each other. Oh and they going text each other, Jesus I give up.
And you believe everything he says this is the problem gullible people.

The COM’s will do as they are told when bonuses are involved, they might not agree with the changes being imposed without our input money talks and that is their motivation at the end of the day,I will still vote yes in the ballot.

Has any office had their start time pushed forward in these revisions ie 6:30 to 8:30 or any time differential in this year 2023?

I think they're the opposite, actually. Just dividing up a number of whole walks and giving an extra loop off them to every duty, that's very reversible, you just put someone back on the walk. I'm optimistic that this is quite possibly the plan, if getting the work done has to become a priority over saving money at some point, or when the planners came in they would have re-jigged all the duties and made them bigger. Maybe? Hopefully.

IS That what lapsing/absorption is for to show you have the time in duty to do more and hence less walks!

Email the address below and tell them exactly what changes they are bringing in at your office and let the MPs know why this will fail - continued delays to mail and standard parcels. Royal Mail continue to break their legal obligations whilst charging the customer for a service they are not getting.

Thats what I'm saying. There seems to be a common theory, that whatever RM may push through, is here to stay forever and can't be undone. This is simply not true.

*edit* my original post should read 'unchangeable', just noticed.
