I just want to give you a quick update on the talks. so I actually had a text exchange with Dave Ward last night and also this morning and we will be catching up again I think this afternoon, maybe early afternoon, but will let you know.
But I want to give you a quick update on where I think we are. So as I said, we will meet this afternoon.
The teams have been meeting all day yesterday, but there's been really limited discussion on the change and pay elements really until yesterday and I think that you know we've been talking for way over a week now and I think that all got really bogged down in the revisions activity and you know we've been really, really clear on the revisions piece.
They have to go ahead and the timeline is the timeline and we have to make sure that we are matching you know labor and workload cause we need to for the business.
You know we're losing a million pounds a day and we've got to make sure that we are the right size now.
I'm hoping and I believe this morning there will be another proposal from the CWU is how they can engage in that process in a in a proactive and positive way which we'd like, but you know these revisions really need to go ahead.
The other thing as well is there is still no real clarity on what the CWU agrees with.
So what I asked yesterday is can we please have a list of the things you agree with? I understand there might be some gaps here and there and there's more discussion that has to come I totally understand that, but I think what we need is we need a foundation of things that we agree with.
And the other thing as well it was a little bit clear to me yesterday this is a very personal perspective and it may well be that other people have a different view, is I think there are a lot of different views, you know on CWU within the people, the people that I meet and, you know, it's really important that we need a united CWU so we can move forward.
So anyway, on a positive note, we're back in talking this afternoon, let's see where we get to.

Just having to sort another loop of mail and parcels as well as do redirections, deads, door2doors and bag the extra loop up is going to cost people another 15 minutes or so. This is going to result in us delivering less than we currently do. Not only will we be bringing this newly added loop back to the office undelivered, we will also be bringing back another loop of mail that we would have otherwise delivered.
Where is the logic.
Even if you are wanting to save money and not give a damn about stuff being bought back - whistleblowers will continue to contact MPs and Ofcom and sooner or later Royal Mail will have to reverse all revisions. You aren't going to get away with continuing to fail the USO now that Covid has passed and sooner or later strikes will have stopped. Does Royal Mail want the government to buy the company back from them and this is actually why they are running the company like a bunch of chimpanzees.

Believe it, it happened to us, 1000 drops went up to around 1500 over nightAcca Dacca wrote: ↑19 Jan 2023, 17:13This has to be an exaggerationShirtbuttons wrote: ↑19 Jan 2023, 16:50My delivery takes me 4 and a half to 5 hours on average and I consider myself fit and able to deliver at a very good speed. When the revision comes in I will have 766 more delivery points, the whole of another walk. This is 8 loops, each loop an average of 30 minutes. Between 2 of us that’s an extra 2 hours delivering on top of the 4 and a half hours we currently do. We will have 6 and a half hours delivery plus 40 minutes meal relief and let’s say 3 hours to prep it. Each pair in my office will need at least 10 to 11 hour days to complete. We will have a total of 1779 houses, 20% door to door and 80% driveways. How is this ever a manageable workload? Are we going to be supplied with bright red E scooters? or are we expected to run?
I’m finding this all very bizarre how we are really expected to have 2 hours more delivering which will take more time to prep so later out the door and probably won’t even fit into our already full to the brim van.
No one can be getting 8 loops of 766 calls, an entire walk, added to them
I don’t believe it

OPG: "It still seems worrying that you still don’t know what both sides agree on after all this time"
Simey: "I agree - I keep asking"
OPG: "Simon Thompson surely you must know by now? I find it hard to believe that after all this time you don’t know what the red lines are, it appears to me to be wasting time while hoping everyone loses interest"
Simey: "in the room - I don’t see a united point of view between the CWU team"

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Been talking for nearly 2 weeks & haven't spoke about pay & change until today, f**k me, what did they talk about, the f**king weather. And they expect us support them, both as useless as each other. Oh and they going text each other, Jesus I give up.

I think it's all about the extreme short term? They need money right now. Ofcom may get their act together but that's months away.norris9 wrote: ↑19 Jan 2023, 17:57Just having to sort another loop of mail and parcels as well as do redirections, deads, door2doors and bag the extra loop up is going to cost people another 15 minutes or so. In this mindset, the future is never going happen, so don't even think about it.

b) at our MC they've come up with a load of ridiculous proposals that hardly anyone could do eg 3 x 12.5 hour shifts, moving people onto nights against their will, moving them onto weekends against their will.
It's got absolutely nothing to do with aligning jobs against the pattern of work.....its purely bullying people into resigning. Then obviously once we go, we're replaced by people on the new contracts.
Edit above - I say "proposals"....sorry that makes it sound like there's negotiation.......obviously there isn't they're just doing what they want.

Yet again, more lies in that brief statement. When will this balloon ever stop? Does he think we can't see straight through him or something? This imbecile is totally incapable of running a tap never mind an institution such as Royal Mail.

I really don't understand these revisions.
The duties become impossible. The work is either done on overtime, or not done at all. So what's the point?
What do they think they are achieving?

I do wonder if this is number one agenda right now. We just had a revision and had a loop off another walk added to all our duties. Most of us just took that and cracked on with it. This week, on the lapsed loop, I have had one single set of doors to doors thrown in on three separate days. Why would anyone do that except to be a deliberate PITA making you go to every house on three different days? It's like they sit around coming up with pointless things to make you do until your head's done in with it.

The whole exercise is to make us feel there's no hope and the fight is lost. Its to make us think it's over and give up.FOST wrote: ↑19 Jan 2023, 18:42a) job cutsCucumber wrote: ↑19 Jan 2023, 17:36Sorry if I don't understand, but what essentially happens with a mail centre revision? *Edit* I don't think it's to make staff resign, it's far too unreliable a method to reach any meaningful number of resignations. Its purely to demoralise us, and make us apathetic to the dispute.

How will we know when it is over?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The dispute?
Two ways...
1) A 'No' result is returned.
2) A offer is put to the membership for a vote and accepted.
