RMCtv : Update on CWU talks - changes to proposals on certain allowances

With CWU agreement, we can make these changes to the allowances proposals within the money allocated to our ‘best and final’ offer. As such, we are able to offer them without impacting the overall affordability of the deal.

Exactly . The ex PHG supplement is pensionable . It’s not the £20 per se but the loss of more pensionable pay that bothers me .Personally I’d be willing to subsidise any pay rise using this allowance until it’s eventually absorbed into my basic pay . So long as I don’t lose any current pensionable pay , I’d agree. I hope you read this board Dave & Andy

The loss of both is bad but loss of pensionable £20 per week is more concerning.
Promoted to PHG in January 1982 had to suffer the loss of grade in 2000 and now they take the £20 and we lose out on pensionable pay - there are only 13 ex PHG’s left in our MC so it ain’t a lot of members who are being penalised.

I've got 28 years service and get non of the allowances want rid of. I don't feel like I'm missing out or have a problem with other people getting them. If the union only manages to get movement on retaining allowances and hails it a win but accepts all the things Im against, annualised/Flexi hours being the main one I'll be totally fed up , feel I've lost money for nothing and will be leaving the union.

No-one should be losing money and that includes allowances just because of management’s poor running of the company and pandering to share holders. That is why the CWU have to try and keep all allowances amongst the other attacks we face.

It probably also means few union members will worry if it's withdrawn, these moves a step in the right direction, now lets see what they do about the later starting hours and annualised hours etc.

Not a good sign that Rm haven't budged on any issues that effect us all. They could be waiting until the end of talks to offer more or if they don't, they probably aren't worried about another round of strikes. Which isn't a good sign for us.

If we have a approximate figure of how much RM are set to lose if we go through another round of strikes, it will tell us if it's worth it or not. We hit Rm with a few gut shots over Christmas & they just took them. With light mail ahead for awhile, is striking gonna be as effect?

It's not really a 'freebie' if you have been getting paid it for years. Should never been a negotiating pawn.

I will not vote for an odd strike day here & there, it didn't work & it won't work now. Unless we can have an overtime strike then we won't win. This company runs on overtime. The people who say it can't be done are the ones raking it in after every strike.
