4 walks today were lapsed, with no notice, and two are to be absorbed and two us made to cover. Our revision wasn't long ago-I wouldn't have picked it if I'd known that. I presume I have to suck it up or is there anything I can do? Our manager is off sick and the cover manager had no idea and our union rep is equally clueless.

During revision activity, a walk/walks should have been identified as potential lapsing/absorbing/summer saving walks.
So that during resigns the opg who picks said walk/walks would be aware of what happens, when it happens.
This should have been the case since pay & mod.
There are a lot of 'should's'' in Royal Mail.

there should be a lot of ''shouldn'ts as well i.e. ......in our office they've let 10 go on evr, they shouldn't have, they've pulled 4 massive duties out and carved them up, they shouldn't have. all these extra calls are being put on to walks that are already well over their maximum, they shouldn't have. and all this bullshite is due to start at ours a week tomorrow. it will fail catastrophically, all because they shouldn't have went ahead with these undoable revisions. the leaders are totally clueless.

Who's making these decisions as to which duties are going then, is there any meaningful planning whatsoever, has anyone actually got time to absorb the extra work?

A planner and Your line manager I believe

We haven't even got a planner we have got office manager and lino doing ours,needless to say you can guarantee all the bosses mates will get looked after.

It's amazing how once there's a vacant round in our section before you know it someone who knows one of the gaffers has been put on it and has never f***ing come off it!

My advice is such if anyone in your workplace colludes against you is one say nothing or take it to the limit thing is proving it but the truth will prevail in the future! As to the question if you should have a vacant duty it should go to those with the highest seniority in a pick this is a thing your rep should do!
