I still suffer from anxiety and stress with a social phobia too... I do feel worthless to the company... it's all i know..

Stay strong mate ,anxiety is one big xxxxer to deal with and you are right Royal Mail would like you out of the door.

The key to anxiety is to stop being over concerned about the expectations of what your told can be achieved,if you look at the slow posties they really don't give a s**t,if you stop over worrying and start not giving a s**t so to speak anxiety will naturally fall off to a normal level.

Believe me, you will not realise just how much the job in its current form will have been unknowingly eating into you until you start at your new place, trust me!

Best decision I made after almost 26 years, when you hear posties of 30 years plus leaving and then saying it was the best thing they did....they are the ones to listen to.

Good luck in your new job, and to all those being dangled on a carrot with the possibility of a poor deal VR, just remember - good loyal (and long serving) posties are leaving in their droves now, and every one that leaves creates another vacancy on top of the hundreds there are now, thus reducing the amount they need to give VR to......it's all about the money.

I second that comment. It's hard to do if its naturally not in you to be lazy, so to speak. However, when you think about how these lot up top are treating us with utter contempt, it makes it alot easier. Good luck to the original poster in your future endeavors.

Many thanks for all the comments guys my anxiety is going mental starting the new role as it’s a role you would never expect the postie to go into and leaving a half secure job after 13 years nearly is massive for me I never had anxiety as much as I do now each years caused that with the forever change and bullshit we get thrown at us.

Hopefully I like this new job and don’t look back

Royal Mail have made me into a nobody in the 13 years I’ve worked there I know many struggling from the effects

they can’t leave us alone in the job anymore ,
The ones who are 40 plus in there when these duties become larger health is really
Going to rapidly decline that’s if u take your time or
Not
Notching up ten miles a day over the weeks is bad news for the joints and body

I think this is RM grand plan, they want to move the USO to a 3 day week, then eventually throw it to the wind.
I estimate half the workforce will be gone in 2-3 years, the more people who resign, retire, or sacked. The less redundancy payments they have to fork out for.

Honestly I don’t blame you to many managers have unrealistic expectations. It just doesn’t need to be like this but unfortunately it’s a top down policy that I can’t see changing in the near to long term future.

On my street, very few of my neighbours are unaware just what a toxic company Royal Mail is to work for, or in how much contempt it holds the men and women who work for them.

Well judging by the latest Parliamentary debate, MPs are generally behind retaining the USO and its importance. Even if the USO goes from 6 days to 5 days then there will be job losses.

I left in october, i was unsure if i did the right thing for a few weeks. Now i am nearly 3 months in a new job, i am happier than i can ever remember being at RM.

Your anxiety will hopefully fade in time, a new job with people who treat you well will be a big help.

The hardest part is making the decision to go, after that, well, you will see how much better it gets.
