I've finally had enough of Royal Mail, but also enough of the CWU. I have given my notice and I'm off to work in the real world again. Less £ per hour, but working 9 to 5 and earning more overall. So, maybe I'll get my life back with weekends and evenings to enjoy.

Royal Mail are already bringing in all the changes we're fighting to stop. Absorbing walks, parcel hubs, plans for owner drivers to deliver the parcels and all the while saying there will be no forced redundancies. It's all smoke and mirrors while they do what they want. Next will be the later starts, soon followed by the annualised hours. No doubt the no compulsory Sunday working will go the same was as the rest of the lies.

There are 8 walks being absorbed in our (pretty small) office. How can this not lead to forced redundancies?

6 postie's (inc. me) have quit since christmas. We've been lapsing every single day since before the strikes had begun. Failing your own walk to deliver someone else's, taking just the tracked out and for 2 or 3 walks at times. And the icing on the cake? No overtime to try to clear anything.

Rant over, but as a final thought, If/when they do remove the parcel deliveries from us and give them to self employed owner drivers, why do they need us to start 2 or 3 hours later Monday to Saturday or work at all on a Sunday?

I think the trouble we have as postal workers is that we're trying to make sense of many of the changes that are happening and that are proposed, stupid revisions for example when we really dont know if theres actually a plan that RM have or senior management just dont know what they're doing. Yes I know some may say well its obvious RM are running down for this that or the other but we really dont know, do we?

We have similar situation in my office... The crux of the matter is that walks will fail regularly - why is that your problem? They don't care and customers don't even notice...

Starmer has publicly said he will. He also publicly said a lot of other things, that he has then went and reneged on.

I think the parcel hubs idea is being abandoned. Multiple people have posted that the large will be going back to the walks

That would mean the £1 billion pound investment in the super sorting machines has been wasted.
Not impossible as this is RM.
We are a hub. There has been no talk of parcels being returned to van share duties. (The COM is desperate to get rid of them. Simon visited and told him under no circumstances. This is the future)
The parcel drivers are full expecting the oversize parcels from neighbouring offices to appear soon.

From 10,000 being made redundant to 0 all while still absorbing at least 10% of the walks. Postie's are realising that those with the least seniority are now going to be the ones out the door as those with decades under their belts just take your walk when theirs is absorbed.

10 years in an office and I'm still at the bottom of the totem pole. So when this game of musical chairs called a repick ends and there's one or two less chairs in the room, who's out the door or off to a new office probably miles away?
