With later starts and working in the dark …. Where would we stand in refusing to walk down unlit driveways? Even with a torch you can’t see low lying branches, or potholes or even dogs.
Or blocks of flats where the lighting inside doesn’t work etc

And with warmer summers predicted a lot of days we may not be delivering anyway if it’s too hot. This year the manager allowed us to come in early so we could be finished by noon. That wouldn’t be possible if we don’t start until 9.

Do you not have to work in the dark on an early start also?

Fall over and claim ,its the only way with half the workforce claiming injury the policy would be only deliver if safe to do so .

I used to deliver Milk in the dark when I was a kid, I honestly don't know what's happened to the people in this Country but they have gone soft.

I've delivered in the dark,mornings and when I did OT also well after 5pm at xmas,I've done collections in the dark and security for RM in the dark, delivering is far worse. As for the difference in darkness, let's not be silly

Collection drivers don't empty many Post Boxes nowadays, they also collect from businesses and Post Offices.
Driving in the dark is also dangerous but I have yet to hear a driver say that they are too terrified to work in the dark.
