It was similar after last xmas, and that was without I/A, then when we got to March the s**t hit the fan. Heaviest for 10yrs according to the gaffer.

That's to be expected as you've got various end of financial year postings, things like council tax, probably electoral register in advance of any local election, etc around then

Yeah i know, March has always been like that and normally September, but last March was exceptionally heavy...and as i said....the gaffer says it was the heaviest for 10yrs

Letter volume was already dropping at ours before christmas pressure, though packets remained steady. Now, financial reality has hit people and they have no money after christmas so our packets have plummeted too. The reality is, people are sending and ordering less stuff.

yesterday we had one random York of Christmas cards , mostly unfranked but some showing 8th December postmark and feeling damp.

They're just declining. I'd imagine industrial action probably hasn't helped volumes, but ultimately they're in terminal decline regardless. Our call rate Monday/Tuesday (Tuesday/Wednesday) this week is 20-30%. It's actually pointless taking it out.

If the USO goes and letters would then be delivered 3 days a week.. we could take half of the RM2000s out. Double up the frames.

I took out 9 bundles of mail today for my entire walk. Three tiny bundles as well but basically 4 little bungalows in three cul de sacs.

Agreed, half the delivery staff needed as there is now, rotating walks everyother day, alot of compulsory redundancies luming which won't be to bad for alot of people as they want to leave anyway

Maybe they will let anyone willing to leave to go but i don't think the extra £6000 sweetener will be offered on top like last time, they will get enough wanting to go anyway without the £6000 extra
