Good for you. Look after number one. It's so so easy to injure your back or knee. You don't even have to have much weight, it's more the awkwardness of it.
Especially for the older postie. I often question people who complain or moan when I knock on the door because of their low letterbox and I usually say
“You wouldn’t put your door handle at the bottom of the door.”
Sometimes I say, you wouldn't put a doorbell down there, would you? Leaves them speechless every time.

We could doorstep the mail no problem but getting it through a stiff spring loaded low down box with a bundle in one hand is a different matter.

You forgot to mention attempting to push a floppy pkt through the industrial strength draught excluder whilst bent down then the icing on the cake of having to take a photo of the fukker on your PDA

Some letterboxes, especially in new build, seem to be out of alignment. I can get small parcels through but half way in it seems to be obstructed. I have no idea why.

Low level letter boxes are perfect for dogs, just when you’re cursing your back and knees they finish you off with a finger nip.

No i endorse the small letterboxes every time.
For the low letterbox I write on it ‘inaccessible.’

So you kill them off, still smelling BS
No I don’t kill them off. I put them back in a tray or even back in the fitting.
Every single low letterbox I have put in the hazard book for that walk. I have a problem with one of my knees and Royal Mail are aware of it. Manager tells me to do what I can so I do. I have just under 50 low letter boxes on my walk and normally I will deliver to about ten of them.

After that, I’ll alternate it the next day or rota man will deal with it.
Why does everyone freak out about low level letterboxes?
Be thankful your not Milkmen who have been placing bottles of milk & sundries on the floor outside peoples doors for centuries without issue.

Or pushing a tracked large letter through, bundle in one hand plus the pda in order to take a pic 😂

A lot of new builds have letterplate restrictors on to prevent letterbox burglaries!

I’m getting a head band and leg warmers.
I have known more colleagues have surgery for carpal tunnel (due to gripping a bundle of mail) than have to have hip or knee replacements.
Routinely stretching your hand to prevent it just seems sensible.
I have known more colleagues suffer from golfer's elbow and routine stretching of the arm with the palm turned out can help prevent it.
I don't need to wear a head band or leg warmers.
And I don't need to post in bold either like some pathetic, desperate attention seeker.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I was being flippant. Why you feel the need to be so horrible to someone you don’t even know but do know is a fellow Postie is beyond me.

Ah is that so. Makes sense I suppose.

This week in our section, 4 walks have been cut out of 25 and everyone expected to take, it works out at a loop per walk apart from a certain walk where new builds are next to it and has had 2-2.15 hrs dumped on it!! I cover said walk and it’s now the biggest in the office by far, it’s just terrible lazy management! There’s a couple of rurals and their loop is the other side of the postcode so once they’ve done that it’s about a 40 minute drive to their duty!
Just say no. Lapsing is a mug’s game.

You can’t say no. It’s their future plan. Those loops from a lapsed walk are going to be made part of your walk permanently.

Yep, and if you can’t complete leave one section and then rotate round the next day! Quality service!

Work your time, take your break, job done, go home. If a walk has to be rotated/alternated, you don`t get paid enough to worry about it. Repeat. It`s a problem of management`s choosing, so they have to solve the problem.

Seems like managers are just yes men frightened they’ll get moved on if they push back against ludicrous revisions. Still if they insist on making duties unworkable make it their problem not ours.

This entirely. Don’t be a muppet and knock yourself out trying to make the nonsense work.
