If commit to deliver ever came in 80% of the delivery staff would hand their notices in. Nobody is going to work into the evening for free are they?

Pick a marathon runner, it's more apt.sindba wrote: ↑30 Dec 2022, 16:57Lol. We're posties not f***ing Usain Bolt!clashcityrocker wrote: ↑30 Dec 2022, 16:47Ask Dave Joyce his opinion.stevejm wrote: ↑30 Dec 2022, 16:34
Clash, even if we are walking 5/6 miles a day and not 10/12 - the end result, as witnessed with colleagues waiting on hip and knee replacement operations, is that the CURRENT workload (however many miles that is) is detrimental to our long term health. Increasing the amount we currently walk by 20-30% should logically lead to the same injuries and deteriorated health outcomes occurring sooner and/or to more of us.
I think the physical nature of the job is now so great that people need to approach it in the same way they would any sporting endeavour.
Warm up, stretch, optimum nutrition, hydration, warm down. Rest.

Ooooh, controversial. You are completely correct though.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑30 Dec 2022, 17:23To be honest you shouldn't need to stretch and warm up to complete a delivery but nutrition, hydration and basic fitness levels are important.
It's no longer a job where you can afford to carry around any excess baggage. You can't really complain about the damage to hips, knees and ankles if you're carrying the weight of a delivery bag around your waist.

Re: Cwu where are you 13 walks going
Lets be honest about the use of HCTs and LWTs.
I push my HCT round nearly all my walk It makes it a lot easier physically.
The walk next to me leaves his for hours at a time and just uses it as a mobile pouch box.
Ive never seen a LWT used in my office.
When It comes to a revision they only have themselves to blame when they take on more work.

In the last year they have added customer collections and taking photos of tracked items on the door step to our jobs.
This probably adds somewhere between an average of 5 to 10 minutes a day to the job.
Even if they want to claim mail has gone down in the past year they have made our jobs longer in the past year!!!!

Given Simon Thompson's previous and the way that he is going about negotiations with the CWU at the moment does anyone really believe that he will last another 5 years!! lol
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
