Still think it is a stupid idea among a crowded field of stupid ideas.

Our ‘competition’ do not have collection points like we do. Instead, they claim to have tried to deliver to your house (they didn’t) then send you a message saying it is ready for you to collect 40 miles away.

I wait to see if they try to redeliver because there is no option to select this and I’m not doing an 80 mile round trip.

Nothing arrives. So I click on various random links and discover they drop stuff at a newsagent down the road. So on the off chance, I go in in my Postie uniform and ask about it. Newsagent hunts for forever and eventually finds it. Yippee. He didn’t ask me for any ID.

Our competition, UPS, hadn’t sent me any message with a collection location (other than the one 40 miles away) or collection code or anything.

That’s why they get so many complaints. That’s what we’re heading for if the collection points close.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

Obviously Royal Mail executives are following Amazon business model.

Low paid
Overworked
And don’t bring anything back!
Which we witness just leads to doorstepping and fast track getting the sack for leaving parcels unauthorised.

Brothers and Sisters just do as instructed and no more!
They will sack you for lost parcels.

They'll still need someone to log and process the returned pkts no? Or are you expected to just pile them up in the isle day after day by your frame?

I always 739 never doorstep and very few places are safe unless there's a locked box,if bosses have a go get them to sign off its alright for you to leave,or else bring it back, don't give them a reason.

That's why they 'cant afford' to pay us more. Unless there's less of us........for the same work we can't manage now! Company is fxxked.

The difference between us and the other companies is we don’t get paid by the parcel, so who cares if they all go out 3 days in a row? More mail will be left, that’s all.

If it results in lots of parcels going back out each day, won't it make all HCT deliveries non viable, as it's got to result in EVERY walk needing a van?

Most companies are paying a flat day rate now. I was told by an Amazon driver she was getting £165 a day plus milage. She reckons quite a few Parcelforce guys have moved over to Amazon.

Question is who would work for Royal Mail when the competition is now paying higher wages.

You can’t get all the mail in big vans now never mind the extra 20 redeliveries.

I’m on a HCT walk and the late shift take my large parcels out then again I hardly take anything back.

Probably will mean the parcel person for the trolley jobs will need a bigger van. Sure they’ll be thrilled about taking the same parcels out repeatedly.

Where are we supposed to store these undelivered parcels?

AFAIK the parcel people will be just doing large parcels, the smaller ones will go out with the walks

Hey ho!

Our might go because it only opens for about 3 hours a day. But I don't think it is feasible to close all of them by January 2023.

We don't even have a dedicated caller's office staff anymore but one of ours still get the PHG allowance for working there ages ago...
No he doesn't get paid for once working there. He gets paid for losing his postman higher grade (PHG) grade. Same as I got hgv allowance even while in office. That's the problem with this job, everyone worried about what everyone else is earning. It's the same about the snide comments about workplace coach allowance. Other posties saying it shouldn't be paid. Why not, a worker is earning. And it you get to take out a newbie then claim the day rate of coaching allowance at £8.35. Maybe if you had better reps you'd know thst.

Do they have finish times or are they committed to clear whatever workload they are given?
