Every Area Delivery Rep has been given guidance from HQ on this subject and it should have been cascaded to local reps and memberstpost wrote:Indoor work should only be absorbed at this stage and not outdoor work. The trials dealing with the covering each other will probably sort the coverage of outdoor work at a later stage. Our DOM is looking to take people off IPS to prep walks during lighter periods and paying 4 hours OT to a rest day man or perhaps splitting the walk between 3 people to deliver. This way staff still have the opportunity to earn extra money but RM still make a saving by utilising spare time available on indoor work. This is a sensible way of making savings without the arguements of who is going to do what when splitting a walk and also keeps within the limits of the 3.5 hour delivery span

Lovejoy help me out here.
For example.
If i go out at 09.30 and come back to the office at 13.15 are you telling me that i would not be required to do any more xtra rounds as i've done 3.5hrs of delivery already, if so what would i do for the last hr of my time if there were no indoor work to do.
Just to let you know i would not get back at that time anyway, just a thought.

Some one goes sick for example you could give up a IPS person to prep the round and then the delivery part goes out on OT as normal.
Most indoor work is IPS or Prepping so thats your answer.

We shouldn't have to work harder for that it should be part of any negotiation that we do less hours in summer without loss of pay as a good will gesture from RM - course we could negotiate less hours through the year and more holidays as part of a pay deal in 2009.Big Daz wrote:Dont forget RM are supposed to gives us more people on leave in the summer in return!

Thanks Big Daz
Thought that was the case, just wanted to make sure. They are after some of our early opening up S.A. as well [as we have not got any nights] but i am putting up a fight on that issue .
What about the 3.5 hr delivery span as i mentioned earlier? i'm abit confused on this issue. Can we refuse to do any more delivery even it is only 13.15 and an hour duty time left.
Cheers
Dave

Tricky one that. You would need a Area Delivery Rep to clarify that.davepat wrote:Thanks Big Daz

The whole agreement is a mess, the 30mins so called flexibility time is questionable, our rep and his superiors have said its 30mins across the week, RM say its a daily thing. Your delivery is up to a maximum of 3.5hrs and you don't go over this time. You also shouldn't be leaving the office till 10:15 if you started at 6am and your full time, this gives 15mins travel to walk time, up to 3.5hrs delivery and 15mins pouch off time to take us to 2:15pm. Any extra time has to be done indoors.
My office operates a Mon-Fri 6am-2:15pm and a Sat 5am-12pm this is working pretty well.

• Efficient Summer staffing – each unit will utilise the opportunity offered by reduced traffic volumes to re-arrange responsibilities during the summer period. This will offer employees additional opportunities for leave during the same period.
This says nothing about indoor only!!!
• Doing other work within your office: On occasions staff may be asked to undertake other work outside their normal duties. Employees would be appropriately trained, properly equipped and safe ways of working will always be in place.
This does !!!

I think the bit in red means duties that come under the office/unit rather than actually exclusively indoor work. Just a thought.AndyK wrote:• Efficient Summer staffing – each unit will utilise the opportunity offered by reduced traffic volumes to re-arrange responsibilities during the summer period. All of the interpretations contained within these Model Agreements have been jointly cleared at National Level with the exception of the last one in the Delivery Model. The Unions position on this one is that the flexibility for consideration should be restricted to Indoor work i.e. within the office (Outdoor elements are due to be dealt with under the Phase 3 trials). The Business position is that this should also be extended to Outdoor duties i.e. Deliveries etc. (PLEASE NOTE REPRESENTATIVES SHOULD ADHERE TO THE UNIONS INTERPRETATION OF THIS ENABLER).
only the last one......
