Guys, you can talk about what ifs until you are blue in the face.

Nothing, nothing is impossible with this CEO, who thought we would ever strike at christmas and fail to get an agreement? Certainly not me.

I heard today that managers are to be balloted again as everything they were promised has failed to happen.

At the end of the day, the majority of us have a five day break over christmas, enjoy it, there is nothing we can do to change it. We could get notification that the strikes are called off even at this stage and we have to go to work tomorrow, I would be royally pissed off if that happened.

And what if Royal Mail do tear up 128,000 contracts legally on the 24th December? Then offer new ones when we return?

I’m genuinely thinking about what to do on the 24th, one thing is for sure, when we’ve had all week to strike without repercussion is that I am coming out of the union. f***ing idiots.
That's another thing to consider for some of us, what if you're not in the CWU, would you risk not going in? I'm not risking it, plus I'm guessing there's gonna be naf all to do anyway as it's all clear they tell us.
Im not in the union and i will have to go in , absolutely not worth the risk at all

haha now you put it like that lol ,i only been a postie 4 years and decided not to bother with the union for a few reasons and never really needed them. The 24th would be a silly thing for me to do as technically this is not my fight and my co workers are cool with that seeing as im not a union member (which may o rmay or may not bite me in the arse in future) . I do hope the strikers win though as there still my friends and dont know what i would do without the brutal banter at work lol

Or the redundancies and loss of terms? He's actively undermining the 'fight' of his 'friends'. Something sounds wrong in that's sentence.

I was unofficial strike action in 1986 and 1988 and because I was on a Cadet probation I got really threatening letters of the employer.

I suspect they will do the same again with conduct breaches on our contract.

I would not put anything past this lot.

Plus old Rushi or some other goon spoiling my nice glass of Glenlivet by openly saying on the radio today.
“Come January there going to deal with the unions once and for all or words to that effect”.

Our delivery office and alot around my area were initially closed when the strikes first begun. So one foot wrong from RM and it unfair dismissal of 130,000 staff. Not to mention the fallout from the public.
Ours was closed too and I suspect the union knew about this caveat.

It’s a total legal minefield and I did wonder why no more strikes were announced and know we know why.

Remember rm saying if you worked on strike days it would be at a mail centre/parcel hub.

There are announcements from rm stating offices would be shut too.

Everyone relax.
Martin Walsh posted that the 12 week protected period for the change ballot started on 30th September, I think the earlier strikes where for the pay ballot.

So the standing argument is technically our contracts could be ripped up, but practically they won’t be.

So why bother with another ballot, let’s just ride across the Tory anti union laws with a wing and a prayer?

These laws are there to assist fat cat employers and no amount of 70s union sentiments about standing together is going to change it.

I personally think they probably won’t fire and rehire but still ask why the hell we are risking it for the sake of one day.

Why in hell take an unnecessary risk, they could’ve just called 22nd and 23rd and stayed in the window?

This CEO is absolutely ruthless and a proven asset stripper.

This is not a normal dispute that will end with a thrashed out agreement, one side is going to be victorious and I’d prefer keep battling rather than give RM the possibility of smashing our union which fire and rehire will achieve in one fell swoop.
