Why get rid of them?
I know that people like that, cause a lot of upset, but why not let them carry on. After all, if we ignore people like that, we will risk discouraging people who GENUINELY don't agree with the majority of us. That's how we ended up with the mistaken idea that we were going to get a No vote for the pay and modernisation agreement (aka the screw the Posties agreement).POSTMAN wrote:cantypeANDSHOUTS and night tonic, this isn't the place for you, might be best if you guys go somewhere else.
Teebs,i-postie,and all the others who have given reasonable and well thought out answers to practically all of cantypeANDSHOUTS ramblings, credit to you guys but it's a waste of your fingers.
cantypeANDSHOUTS,the questions you have asked on this board have been answered, there can't be any more,so i'll see ya.
Night tonic, best you follow him,you normally do these type of posters.
Good day gentlemen. As this isn't the place for you.
The more different views we can get on here, the better in my opinion. After all, we soon get to know who's trying to stirr up trouble, and who genuinely disagrees with us. Then we can show proper respect to those who have a different view, and correct the misinformation of the trouble makers, before it gets out of hand.

Postyparker, you should really have started a new thread about your experience of RMC before joining RM, and actually doing the job. As k979aaa said, you put that comment into the middle of a highly charged debate, which caused (in my opinion) a disproportionate response.k979aaa wrote:I do not for moment question the validity of your post but your timeing may have been inappropiate to say the least! but welcome to the forum that don't pull no punches!.postyparker wrote:Has anyone actually read what I said?

As far as your experiences of working for RM are concerned, you have been lucky to find a calm office. Things aren't constantly bad at RM. On the contrary: in my experience, the majority of the time, things go quite smoothly at the RDC where I work. It's just that there are major changes happening at the moment, and some of them are causing a lot of upset. Particularly as our capacity is being reduced, causing a drop in standards.
You must have noticed that your Post is being delivered later than it was a year ago. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. When we hit Autumn Pressure, followed by Christmas Pressure, we are going to really struggle to maintain anything even remotely comparable with the level of Service that the Public deserve!
Most of us (in my experience) joined RM, to provide a Public Service, which was the envy of the World. Now look at us! People having to queue for ages to get packages, because the Post arrives so late, that no-one is there to sign for it. Temporary Staff recieving insufficient training. Admittedly, as we use Agencies so much these days, there are now regulars, who actually know what they're doing. But the fact is, that no-one should undertake this type of work without proper training.

1. I applyed in November, got the job, looked at this site beofre my start date in Jan and the site put me off.
2. Now I am working for RM I love it as alot of what I was worried about after looking on this site doesn't occur in my office
So if you look at them two points you will see I don't need years expereince working for RM as my comment simply applied to this site and joining RM.
Is that ok for you jafferpants?
Fair enough I could of started a new topic regarding my experience joining and maybe my post was untimely but I personally didn't think it was that bad but sorry if I pissed anyone off.
Nothing like a bit of banter though eh

I must say that this may be a clash of the old and new (and after 5 years done I think I am nearly new), a lot things happened last year which got the back of posties up all over the country. PostyParker joined after the vote and when everything had settled down so perhaps we should understand his position, he did not know what it was like before and therefore has nothing to gauge on how good or bad his office is, apart from his previous employment.
Many things happened last year, at my office we were continually briefed by Management that the strike would be bad for the company (any normal person would be aware of that) and that we would gain nothing. At my office we were continually told that the strike was weakening yet as far as I am aware no-one broke the strike. The pay offer in April and till the agreement was reached would have meant I would have lost £30 per week, so as you can see Parker feelings were and to some exent are still running high.
However some of the posts subsequent to yours were a bit near of the knuckle and I wish everyone would sometimes step back from their post and read them again before they press SUBMIT. As I keep saying lets have a long discussion with rambling posts (like this one) rather than one line insults and unsubstantiated claims.
Postyparker, I am happy that your office is ok - mine is not to bad either - however, it would have been a shame for you to take what you read on RMC as gospel that it happens everywhere. Every office is different and most are somewhere between Really Really bad (ala Burlsem) and Extremely Good (Yours and Johnnypicks from what I can gather), mine is more towards the good.
The thing that amazes me is that RMC is getting a name for moaners and complainers, well as we are an independent chat site is it not understandable that people are more likely to moan about things rather than praise them. One thing I learnt in sales is that you provide a bad service for one customer they will tell 10 people how bad the company is. If you do an outstanding job, generally, they tell no-one.
The same things operates here. For instance you cant work overtime and tell the Lineo/DOM this, he then says sorry can't cover etc, well you will be pissed off and if your a member you will come on here for a rant. However, if you need an hour of work and the Lineo/DOM agrees, how many in all truth would come on here and praise them, it happens but it is rare. Therefore anyone trying to get a felling of what moral is like at RM or what the working conditions are like would be perhaps a little naive to believe a chat forum presents a complete picture.
Now more rambling posts please and no more name calling or unsubstantiated claims.
Rant over

Totally agree with you TrueBlueTerrier. I wasn't with Royal Mail when the s**t hit the fan and the strikes happend.
I couldn't help feeling worried before I joined though as I wasn't to know whether mine was going to be decent or not until I got there.
Just wound me up people saying you basically have no experience so you can't comment on anything as Jafferpants seems to think.
When my comment directly applied to this site and people who hadn't yet joined RM but had the job, were thinking to or who had applied and were waiting to find out if they had the job thus had no experience anyway.

Err..by either joining a Union or forming a Union.
Wikipedia
A trade union or labor union is an organization of workers. The trade union, through its leadership, bargains with the employer on behalf of union members (rank and file members) and negotiates labour contracts with employers. This may include the negotiation of wages, work rules, complaint procedures, rules governing hiring, firing and promotion of workers, benefits, workplace safety and policies. The agreements negotiated by the union leaders are binding on the rank and file members and the employer and in some cases on other non-member workers.
