The British public will work out what's going on when they have a 3 days letters service delivered by a different person each day in a white van.

Do you really think most customers really care as long as there parcels arrive promptly? Long gone are the days of waiting for letters from loved ones etc to arrive.

It's not letters from our loved ones. It's the letters from the NHS, from our energy supplier, from our bankers, our councils.
And yes from our loved ones.

I think I had one day to get a document sent to my solicitor before my house purchase fell through. If the best class I could send it by was essentially 3rd class post taking 3 days then I think I'd care.

I think I had one day to get a document sent to my solicitor before my house purchase fell through. If the best class I could send it by was essentially 3rd class post taking 3 days then I think I'd care.

Any important documents can still be delivered by the parcel hubs on a daily basis, perhaps that's why RM were introducing a Sunday Special Delivery service

Having said that in my previous job I worked with solicitors and most correspondence was done via email.

But come on. The union talk about surrender documents. If the board wouldn’t entertain what the union suggested today then it doesn’t look promising. Just being realistic.

What would people think of receiving the £500 bonus in return for the 23rd / 24th December becoming none strike days?

It’s a suggestion I’ve pondered about floating wider, because;

• That £500 has always been somewhere in RM’s offers so it’s clearly budgeted for (and has been artificially inflating the % rise so would be good to get it paid and off the calculation).

• I don’t think they got as many people in as they were hoping today - I only spotted two shoebox size “clear delivery office” photos today - so some in the management team might be starting to lose their nerve as the press attention intensifies.

• Conversely, the two days in question might not see as strong a walkout. I have to admit I’m conflicted on whether I should continue to hold out for those particular days.

• The suggestion is clearly a sticking plaster and doesn’t resolve anything else… but that’s kind of the point and us making £500 from the threat of strike action could be seen as a small win.

And finally;

• Dealing with a mountain of blacklog after Christmas/into the new year doesn’t sound like much fun!

I wouldn’t sell extra Christmas time with my family for £500!!
Secondly, a mountain of backlog is very much fun for me. Do as much or as little in my duty time as I please. I’ve never enjoyed the job as much as now.

No to 23/24 for £500. We need that in base pay.

I’m looking forward to the extra time with my family if this isn’t sorted. If I am working those days I’m certainly going home on time.
