.... but what does that actually mean? he never explains what exactly that looks like and how Royal Mail would even get away with doing that....

There is a USO. Is Dave saying that Royal Mail are just going to ignore their obligations, even more than they already do....

How can they get away with it. Surely the USO in some form needs to exist and be abided by. So does Dave think Royal Mail will pass the USO & letters onto someone else ie. the government?

or is Dave saying that Royal Mail will do whatever they like and the government won't care?

They ain't having any type of agreement. Been obvious for months.

The CWU also aren't making it clear what scenario they see happening with job losses. Sometimes I am not sure if it's literally that Royal Mail will get rid of all of us if they can or if it's mainly going to be Caller's Counter and those mail centres up north that have been listed....

They have mentioned about the possibility of about 4,000 job losses if we went to a 5 day service....but what are the chances Royal Mail even get the go-ahead for that.


From a 'just thinking of myself' point of view....

-I am down south so those job losses up north wouldn't effect me.

-I am a postie - not a callers counter worker.

-I am in an office which has stated no redundancies will happen. It's also a big office in a large town - which probably helps my cause.

-I have about 25+ people behind me in seniority.

-We are understaffed by about 30 people.


.....So I would assume my job is pretty safe....but I don't really know.
