Before the WAYBACKWARD.. RM run on a PRO RATA system... I think it was a correct way to go about Defending F/T jobs.... Then it came in with ANOTHER BULLSHITE campagn and vote... IMO.... Then The rights of F/T workers were harmed... Ok P/T can have the day of entrance But shouldnt be allowed to have leave or O/T with F/T workers... Then its fair... The point of date started even on a 15 -20 hour week SHOULDNT give that person a full time seniority....

If i done half a walk i wouldnt get full time pay... So y should i get or anyone get full time Seniority??? Pro rata was and is correct IMO....

Its just another way of RM make us fight against ourselves... THEY WIN not us... I do feel for the P/T here BUT its the full time jobs and workers that SHOULD HOLD PRIORITY.... FACT......

The fact RM lied and the Unions didnt give a feck is the point we are where we are at now....

This is a major factor in this job going down the pan....

TOM DICK N HARRY can work for us now and work ANOTHER job as well and still they DONT have to adhear to the 9HR AWAY RULE. On O/T.. F/T'ers do.....

FECK EM!!!

I blame these two.. :lfo :cfo

ten_mile wrote:In my office the full timers generally....

a. Finish before their time and have the easiest duties/walks.

b. Get the best paid overtime (SCHED ATT).

c. Get paid for hours they don't work.

d. Get time off/days off when they want them.

e. Have time to take their breaks in the morning (and more) before they leave the office.

If all the above apply then they're usually made into line managers. FACT.

I was willing to put up with this when I first started 7 years ago as I was told that I too would join the gravy train someday....It doesn't look like this is gonna happen now with full time positions only being filled with part time posts of 20 hours a week.

My office is 60% Part time.

IMO the part timers get the work done and are carrying the full timers.
You are entitled to your opinions and if this is your office I am glad I don't work there. Management appear to have successfully got the them and us divide up nice and strong.

However, who does all your IPS, Packet Sorting, Flats and throws out the coded.

Anyone who is finishing early, claiming unworked docket or has not yet been "Peagused or Gio-routed" are in for a big surprise this next few years. However, you can never get all rounds exactly the same unless you have either starburst (NO :speak to the hand :speak to the hand :speak to the hand ) or the silly situation of a Postman starting at 18 High Street and another walk finishing next door at No 16.

However, as a FT I would like to point out that of 5 other posties that have to come through my walk on their way home 4 of them regularly finish before I do and 2 are FT and 2 are PT.

With regard to seniority although FT I am very low on the list for seniority and I think Tommos idea is a good one, however as we have 2 PTs who actually do FT hours every week, but only have PT contracted hours, how would this fit in the situation. Unless we included total hours worked which RM should know. :hmmmm :hmmmm

i should be more senior

:so there

as we all know differance between full time and part time is the 2 hrs ips paid for.but in my do it takes about 45 minutes(more money for nothing)does that make you more important than a part timer getting paid for 6 hours or 5 hrs...and a s we all know how work shy some are at ips time...quick 30minutes toilet breaks or not even bothering to leave their frame in my office...

fairer system to work out seniority go on sick days....less sick days more senior....cos lets face it part timers are less likely to go sick cos were paid less ..why should you be senior yet take extra weeks off for ingrowing hair
If you don't like the system you could always find employment elsewhere :cuppa

cant use sick days unfortunately as it would go against DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) and is therefore against the law. If they could I would be at the Top - 6 days in 5 years. FT Guy next to me 21 days in 6 months

I do not 'steal' anyones overtime, I do what the FT's do not want to do when they 'cut off'. All this half a postie stuff is just laughable really. I am part time yet most weeks I do 48hrs.

I do more than a full time postie, but that does not make me more of one, or better than anyone else. I just get on with the job.

We are all posties :)

That would be great because I have 6 years in and NO sick days so I move to the top of the list :nana :nana . Maybe you should think before you type (and while I'm on that could you please learn to spell and to use proper grammar).

P/T -F/T

Doveston... I agree with a few points of your post... I do believe the more senior people SHOULD have the whole job.. ie.. Junior people under there wing to some degree and help them with the starting of the job and the Union SHOULD make all P/T workers after say a year F/T.... Its the HQ and bods not fighting for our rights For F/T work.. Im Full time and RM was never enmass going to make up anyone up F/T at an agreed date of P/T service.. I believe RM SHOULD DO.... The Unions Never rowed with RM for F/T jobs as the CWU still got money in there coffers and knew it didnt matter to the PEC AND HQ... To many leg up the ladder merchants that have sold out... IE... Allan Johnson.......

I do think F/T working.. In a MC Is much different when it comes to O/T and signing for duties and Full seniority...

In a DO it is a different issue.... A walk is or was 8 hours. So doing a half was 4hrs (diff offices have diff times)

But its the signing of O/T should be done on a aggregate system.. 2 lists... 1)F/T 1)P/T....

I do feel for P/T workers But F/T workers should get first priority in my opinion....

P/T can do other jobs and still sign for O.T in a MC and a F/T officer wont able to sign under the nine hour away rule.... Here it make a difference!!!

There has got to be a fair way of allotting O/T and giving the F/T postie the first pick... ITS OWN ONLY JOB... Yeh i know SOME people have other jobs But they are like ghosts... Ive seen em... Off there nuts...

Lets as one make a stand for rights and a stop to RM destroying the service we give and provide... The job is being chopped apart and RM want us to help them by infiighting... It will just make RM win and us fecked!!!

OUT :wave iM HAPPY REALLY....

How so? It just goes to show the lack of education of people. Whenever I left school you couldn't a job without English O'Level.

OK the PT/FT argument in my DO it's the town duties that finish first everyday and they are mostly PT but the FT staff usually work to or over their time everyday, so before you make sweeping statements about lazy FT staff you should take a look at yourself and your fellow staff at your office :mad
