Yeah i like my job when im out of the office what i dont like about it is the useless managers the bully of a DOM and the fact that he wont deal with his own problems,we have one manager that just dont do her job she puts it all onto others and if you ever want anything you can never find her thats because shes always outside smoking her standered answer to anything that she does not want to deal with is what ever, the other thing that really grips me at the moment is the manager that we do get a sort of answer out of is okie dokie not i try and find out its all okie dokie and guess what you never get an answer and last of all the managers and thier long weekend they finish at 09.30 on a friday and dont come back until tuesday now i dont mind anyone saying work your hours as long as they work thiers.
The plus side is i have some fantastic customers out on my delivery which make it all worth while.

4 DOMS to 60 staff......that can't be right. I'm on my own with 40!
50 odd staff 3 managers used to have only 1 DOM but our new DUM is so utterly useless that I really wouldn't trust him to run a bath, he's the perfect example of the reverse Midas touch

Thats just crazy. I find it hard to believe sometimes when I see messages on here saying 'my manager's got nothing to do after we've gone out' and 'i'll work my hours when my manager work's his'. I can honestly say that I work mine and now I can see how some of your managers have so much time on their hands. I think I should try to get a line manger in my office!! :hmmmm

I believe the CMA have an agreement about the ratio of staff to managers so I'd find out about that if I were you :whistle

We have less than 100 staff now because they just keep getting rid of staff and we have 5 more than useless managers on the floor and 1 DUM and guess what they still cant cope always crying how hard thier job is thing is we are still trying to work out what they do when everyone has left the office because they sure aint doing what they are being paid for oh i know what they do go put the kettle on and eat another 24 cream cakes see problem solved.

That's been standard RM answer for some time for any criticism regarding Inconsistency and any other managerial shortcomings that they have to supervise too many staff and voila Team Working and Team Leaders is the magic answer .

Yes I would look at Leighton , His Board and Senior Managers as the CMA /Unite are scathingly critical of that Top Down style which has been rejected by Business elsewhere , the dated 70's Command & Control style which is just a corporate version of the old RM 60's Management Control , the Regimentation , the FUD or FUB Leighton style . Smell the coffee .

RM do try and weed out poor managers but the tool they use to do that with is all wrong or too clumsy /unwieldy . Either you Macro or Micro Manage , you can't do both at the same time .

I know of one manager in Central Lancs that's currently underfire and failing all these targets . The best thing you can say is 20-30 years ago he'd have been all right , nowadays you need more upstairs as the World's changed .

A proper trouble shooter from the real world would have gone on the floor to find out what was going on and get the big picture . Never mind that manager , what about his back shift Boys Club , what about the iffy staff these Boys Club Members have under them etc, etc ,etc ???

I doubt I will tomorrow - I've got a touch of flu that appeared on Friday, this is my long weekend, but I've been asked to work tomorrow and as it is in the callers, I'll be up at 3:30am, then once my work there is done, I have to fart around till 2:30pm for my long awaited driving assessment, & then once that is done, I'll have an hour's drive home to look forward to
