I mentioned it to DOM/COM who said it's probably more than just a rumour, but he wouldn't confirm or deny that he'd seen anything in writing from HQ.

I've been doing indoor duties of late due to injury, so I've been doing a fair bit of CSP/answering the bell. Told every customer that comes to window that there is a very good chance we will have no customer service point from January onwards. The reactions are exactly as you'd expect. The customers/general public think that the top management of the company need to go based on the crap decisions being made. In their words, "thats just ridiculous, have they completely forgotten about customer service"! My reply....Unfortunately yes. :(

Rumour has it that the CSPs are now going to be opened on strike days. Maybe this will make the gaffers realise what actually happens in the CSPs daily!

They have had a conference call today stating that some offices will be dropping to 2 hours per day some 4 and some closing completely. Staff will go via the ihr route if they are unfit for delivery work rather than vr. A wtl will come out tomorrow regarding it for staff it effects.

Reading the union ltb, some will be open for 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.

Looks like I'll be getting ihr'd out the door then..

Thompson has completely got his head up his arse with this one, our MC on a regular basis has businesses bring items to the Callers Office all bagged up & paid for, gonna upset heaps of people, what happens with 739’d SD’s?, will they go back to the RLE?, RLE gonna be staffed ‘til late if so?, total bobbins of a situation

I can't understand how offices can close completely as what are RM expecting customers to do who are not at home during the day, to travel miles just to collect a parcel/RD or SD letter? Meanwhile the likes of EVRI & Amazon are letting customers collect items from PO's & Parcel units at supermarkets.

Maybe that is what RM will eventually offer, inflight redirection options to get the customer's items delivered to a "drop off point" at corner shops, super markets, post offices etc.

Same here, I thought the caller's office/CSP is like a jewel in our crown advantage, mind you I'm also pretty sure a lot of do's could accommodate one of those parcel collection units on site maybe even installed in a section of the fence but alas as usual RM aren't moving with the times and implementing such opportunities.

My guess is that RM will add another app to the PDAs and everyone will be expected to book in their own docketed items

Which will mean people cutting off delivery to book the items back in

Callers Offices should Not Only be about Collecting Items ,they should be Marketed as having Posting facilities , they should be available to accept all RM products upto 30 mins of the final service to the M C

My gut feeling is your guess is way off the mark.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

So, Mr Thompson goes on national TV and tells everyone we're now a parcel company and is at pains to point out when pressed that we are NOT just another gig-economy courier .. then immediately implements plans to remove the one thing that sets us apart from every other parcel company ie ., customer service .. whoever makes up these customer survey responses of barefaced lies that suggest this is what the customer wants has clearly never set foot in a delivery office or a CSP .. if I was to send a questionnaire out to every single one of my 800+ delivery points I could guarantee not one single person would support closure of the CSP's .. you couldn't make it up .. but, unfortunately, they do ....
