Pissed off with people at my office who are saying that they will be going in on 23rd & 24th as they don’t think it’s fair on their customers not to be receiving post on those dates. Looking at those saying it I’m not so sure that they’re actually more worried about collecting up the last of their tips.

I have said to them that I doubt very much they’ll be delivering their usual walks as they’ll be out across the office doing Tracked & Specials to which they’ve coughed & spluttered saying that they’ll try and persuade the boss to let them concentrate on their own walks!!
I've heard it all now😅😅😅😅hope the boss hunts them and they get f**k all tips f***ing desperados

There is a Claus (get the pun) in this particular law that states that the 12 weeks can be extended by a max of 10 days if you are locked out of your workplace. Given that most delivery offices have been closed on strike days, then that should apply if I'm reading it right, but it might not to Mail Centres and lorry drivers ect.
Doesn't mention 10 days and as far as I know we haven't been locked out by the employer.
An extension period in relation to an employee is a period equal to the number of days falling on or after the first day of protected industrial action (but before the protected period ends) during the whole or any part of which the employee is locked out by his employer.

We've had the same. It just goes to show how many Posties live in their own little bubble. Their Motto is: "Fcuk you Jack I'm alright" provided nothing rocks their own little boat they don't care. :no no

Try telling them to get used to it because if ST gets his own way with Bench Merging we may very well not have "My Duty" ever again, we'll just be working "As Required" :cuppa

Read it somewhere ( can't remember exactly where regarding the 10 day thing ) so am presuming it is right. Here is another link related to the lockouts . Scroll to no3.

The law say's he can do it, you wouldn't actually be out of a job, firing 115,000 workers is not very practical, if he does anything he will present you a new contract. Am I worried? Not in the slightest, There is a legal process where you can sign it under protest and the dispute goes on. Anyone who thinks 115,000 people will get their P45 on the 24th and worrying over nothing.
Being given one of the new contracts seriously your not bothered,we’ve been striking for a few extra pounds and we stand to loose 20% pay
Seriously yes, I'm not even slightly bothered. There is nothing I can do to change the situation, if he does he does and if he doesn't great. He himself has said, there will be no fire and rehire. So no, I am not even slightly bothered. I am not going to give myself stress worrying about something that may or may not happen. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt etc.

Oh, and I no longer know to be quite honest what I am striking for, when I voted yes for IA it was to get a no strings payrise. Now it has turned into No compulsory redundancies. I wish I knew what the union was prepared to put infront of us to vote on. I have no idea.
I can so relate to that. It is one of my mottos not to worry about ANYTHING about which I have no power to affect the outcome. Totally pointless exercise that unduly increases stress and anxiety.
If you are concerned about CR then take some positive action such as updating your cv, putting feelers out for other jobs. In my experience the status quo is not often upset so changes are of a lesser nature. If sudden powerful changes occur they are very rare which is why they're called Black Swan events.

It’s like this is Vladimir Putin going to go nuclear, is Simon Thompson going to rip up your contract. Both are incredibly unlikely although nothing is ever impossible. Try not to worry if Royal Mail want to rip it up then my opinion is it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on.

Also the "commit to deliver" which could potentially see delivery staff still out on delivery late into the evening

Commit to deliver for existing staff was never happening, isn’t going to happen and cant be enforced without a completely new contract that no one would sign

It’s a complete red herring
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

I think it’s utterly irresponsible of the union to even put us in this situation. They should call off the 24th, seek legal advice, and re-ballot in the new year.

this is what Thompson hopes for that people will crack and eventually go back to work. IMHO I think he thought during the cost of living crisis going on the dispute would end quickly because people can't afford to strike 🤔
Do you not acknowledge that the cost of living crisis now makes a backdated no strings pay rise even more unaffordable?
