I have previously refused to vote for Labour under Corbyn, but would consider it under Starmer if they will fight for a United Royal Mail.

How did that work out for you?
Probably better than Corbyn being in charge that's for sure.
I couldn't countenance voting for a party that actively discriminate against Jews (I'm not Jewish) promoting attacks on opposition using intimidation and threats, a very weak disciplinary process and complaints ignored, a leader who allows this to happen.

No way in hell would I accept a Trotskyist party in government engaging in vacuous virtue signalling, all noise and no substance, at least Starmer is taking steps in the right direction starting with suspension of Corbyn who refused to apologise for the anti semitism on his watch.

I never vote tribally I'm not a sheep.
seem pretty sheep like to me to believe all that crap the media wanted you to

Corbyn has stood on our picket lines and supported us, more than can be said for Starmer nevermind Johnson and his mob
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

The RESOLUTION is one CEO backing down or stepping aside and his minions to talk about everything and come with a clean sheet of paper. None of this is a final offer s**t we rejected it and had a massive turnout in parliament square.
Come back to the table with a credible offer and we can solve this dispute but time is running out for it is the management of this company that will be held accountable for its actions and inactions the buck stops with THEM ALL!

I don't care much for Corbyn that is my democratic choice, standing on a picket line for a couple of hours is an easy thing for him to do, he hasn't convinced me to vote for him,, telling me that I'm a sheep is close to how people with contrary views get attacked.

You either carry on down this road and derail the thread or stay on topic.

So that made him ok then? Shakes my head in disbelief.

Everyone saying the solution is for Thompson to leave is kidding themselves. He was hired to do this. Dave ward said himself that the previous CEO tried pushing rm towards a Amazon way of working. So if the current CEO is doing what the previous CEO tried, it's pretty obvious the people employing them are pulling the strings.

Not saying Simon should keep his job, just don't think the next CEO is gonna wave a magic wand & give us everything we want. When the government sold RM it was game over for the old ways.

Corbyn is a relic from the 1970s, much like some of the rhetoric from some trade unionist.
Royal Mail is a private company now. The Idea that Royal Mail belongs with the ideals of Gordon Murray with the Bobby on the beat community service is a far cry from the dog eat dog corporate world of a privatised industry. The obligations belong to the share holder, not the employees.

Choices have Consequences ..... ST chose to go down the road of deliberately provoking the workforce to engineer his, and possibly the shareholders, agenda....... It didn't go well. :no no

The Consequences of his actions (despite awarding himself yet more bonuses) is to lose his job! Rico Back went the same way because he couldn't do the job either. :thumbup

ALL TRUST HAS BEEN LOST!
Most Union Members wouldn't accept a glass of water from ST if they were dying of thirst. I'm not suggesting that IF they sacked ST all the problems would disappear but if they retain his highly incompetent services it's NOT going to help the situation. :cuppa

It seems to me that the main sticking points are putting compulsory redundancies back somewhat(not stopping them completely).union involvement on local decisions.Back dated pay-rise to April and negotiations on sick pay. The other changes we were fighting against look like there dead in the water. Later starts look a definite and sundays will be here if not enough volunteers.
I agree but the one that stands out to me is the “ union involvement on local decisions” I think that it’s the main one for both sides yet it’s not being discussed very much.

So what happens if ST leaves this weekend and a new CEO starts on Monday but is still given the same agenda by the Board i.e. cut the £1m a day losses to zero?

We may hope we can trust the new CEO more but we'll soon also lose trust in the new CEO if he sticks with a similar agenda, given ST's stuck to it for months including wrecking Black Friday/Cyber Monday and now Christmas he must be doing it with full backing of the Board & probably DK in the background as it must be costing RM £m's as will as ill will from both sets of customers.

As opposed to these shysters in charge now who are taking working practices back to those prevalent in Victorian times, give me the 1970s any day :wave

Who exactly are going to remove Simon Thompson From his job?

As previosuly stated, he has been put into that position to do a job, that is more dividends for share holders and smash the CWU then ripe for a sell off.

Government are not going to do anything with the draconian Trade Union Strike Bill being rushed through Parliament.

Believing share holders will oust him is an illusion when you have Billionaire Daniel Kretinsky and Vesa who currently owns 22% of Royal Mail and looking at 30% with the aquisition of GLS given the green light by government.

Public support is dwindling, especially small business trying to recover after the pandemic and the strikes during their most profitable time of year.
