I tend to post most of these stories and I don't think there has been an increase it just seems so because we are more aware of them because of this site. Most of these incidents seem to be either cauals or have only just started the job. The others, that is the long time posties, always seem to be in financial diffciultoes which is no excuse but unless Royal Mail wake up this will increase, especially with flexibility cutting down on the amount of OT being avaiable.

I've seen old timers do silly things , maybe they do know the dodges , sometimes they do think they'll get "looked after " ,sometimes they can be dare I say it a bit Institutionalized and/or immune until Reality creeps in with the Hand on the Shoulder from the IB .

The old culture would have been the very mention of the IB putting the fear of God up people, they'd have you for a elastic band, loose unfranked stamp or a bag tie on the basis that if you pinched one of those , what else would you pinch ? . Nowadays the word is that the IB is very old school , undermanned and rely on stings to catch wrong 'uns out .

Maybe that fear isn't there any more , but that's a change in Society , values etc ,

That can be put down to short sighted , poor don't give a s**t management and RM's "Brave New World " culture , L&C don't come out with any credit , quell surprise !!, they are City Men , just play games with no rules and for higher stakes . Thatcher's children if there ever was ? .

The Culture had to change when RM got shafted by C4 and Watchdog , no matter how sensationalized , distorted these programmes were . Crozier threatened to set his expensive Lawyers on them , but as always it was just bluff and bluster .

Some can be a bit bitter and twisted what with changes to culture and practices etc , feel they are "owed something " .I'm just saying it happens , not condoning it .

On the other side of the coin there's the Corporate no loyalty given or expected either way with AG's /Cassies /Agency etc , there's managers constantly firefighting due to pressure from above , vetting goes through the window and it can manifest itself in cases like these .

Either side of the coin it's wrong un's and bad apples .

A BIRMINGHAM postman has been suspended after his bosses launched a probe into missing Christmas presents.

The 20-year-old worker at Great Barr's Royal Mail depot could face charges and the sack.

It is understood that computer games, handheld computer game consoles and jewellery were in parcels which vanished towards the end of last year.

One man told the Birmingham Mail he was offered a stolen Nintendo DS by the man in a pub before Christmas.

"I heard him boasting that he had been taking all this stuff," said the man.

"I didn't want anything to do with it. I think it's disgusting because at that time of year, they would have been some child's Christmas present."

Police have not yet been involved because Royal Mail has its own powers of prosecution and could take the suspended postman to court.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Following an internal investigation an employee at Royal Mail Great Barr delivery office was suspended on January 31.

"As this is an ongoing investigation we are unable to give any further details at this time.

"We take a zero tolerance policy to the rare incidents of dishonesty and always seek to prosecute those responsible.

"The overwhelming majority of people who work within Royal Mail are professional, honest and provide the highest standards of service possible."

just before i started at my office ,they had a guy done ofr the same thing.
was missorting packets at the sorting so items were going missing from all duties.
he got sent to the very prison we deliver to

unfortunatly i got put on his old walk and got months of grief with customers checking every item,sending test letters to themselves etc etc
