cars on delivery
We have just been told in our office if you use your own car on delivery you have got to bring in your driving liscence mot reg documents as royal mail is now insuring you for thid party cover. Anyone else having this or is it a ploy to get your liscence so you have to drive for them.

Re: cars on delivery
Sounds like a ploy to me - however even if I had a car I would not use it till they start paying me mileage and cover the vehicle at Fully Comp and Legal cover, which of course they will never do.ausy wrote:We have just been told in our office if you use your own car on delivery you have got to bring in your driving liscence mot reg documents as royal mail is now insuring you for thid party cover. BTW 40p per mile allowance should cover it.

all managers should check insurance, mot and tax disc to see if car is in a proper state of repair. i think managers are meant to check this every 3 or 6 months cause they are liable if car not road worthy while on delivery.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

An mot does not mean your vehicle is roadworty ..it means it's pased a statutory test at a particular time and was at that time deemed roadworthy this is only for 24 hrs after the test after which the onus is on you to ensure it's remains at that standard for the rest of the year / or until the next test
it is not an indicator of the condition of a road vehicle perse

I just pray that none of the brothers and sisters who do use their own private cars on delivery every get involved in a road fatality or Road Traffic Accident whilst transporting and delivering RM business mail when they are not properly insured on their own car insurance for business purposes.pinstripe wrote:A sandwich short of a picnicDirtyHarry wrote:Anybody who uses their own vehicle whilst on delivery, has to be one slice short of a loaf.

Time and time again ive read on this site about cars on delivery. How many more times do we have to say it NO PRIVATE CARS ON DELIVERY!!!!!
Why do it? Do you see D.H.L. T.N.T. and other competitors in private cars? No. Why not? Beacause it dont look good for the customer, It costs too much to insure and it pays to advertise. So why do the D.O.Ms let it happen??? Simple they dont give a s**t about the customer or you! Just as long as they have an empty office to report to their boss each day.So i say shop the pratts that use cars to local press, who just love it when they find Royal Mail not looking after their readers mail. Opened a can of worms i do hope so.
