A plea to those working tomorrow

Management have tried to put an agency worker with our pairing. I did not refuse and could not refuse for this person to come out in the van with us. However I asked our manager who would be organizing it all as the loops our coordinated for 2 person van share and pointed out that it was not my job to do this and asked why she thought I should. Her response it was because I am the most senior. I replied being the most senior doesn't pay anymore than less senior and that I am one of those people your CEO wants rid of. I also pointed out that I would only be looking after myself and ensuring I did my own job right. Special's, tracked, customer collection's, local collect, signed for, box collection. Consolidation, van check's etc etc etc. Missing any of these and it's in the office for investigation. So no will not be directing anyone as not my job.

I’ll be starting on my time, taking my full break, van checks etc etc, walking around at a nice steady pace that suits me and catching up with my customers. I will be completely milking the docket at the end of the duty and making them pay for my time. If you or any others don’t like me doing that ……tough! I’m not telling anyone else to do that, they can do what they want and what suits them. I don’t welcome people on here telling me what I will or won’t be doing tomorrow! We moan about bullying from the Board and managers and yet plenty on here and in the office think nothing of doing exactly the same by way of “do it my way or you’re a w****r”

Whatever does or doesn’t get cleared in a DO tomorrow will only be a tiny fraction of what’s in the system. The blockage will now not clear this side of Christmas,

And this is exactly what needs to change in Royal Mail and modernise with the "Not my job" Rhetoric.

This is the 21 century, not he 1970s

For all you know his family could be depending on that money. You are only losing one/two days pay a week, that could be all he has/had is a days pay

It doesn't say the agency worker lost a days work though does it? That's just you presuming. What about the 10,000 redundancies they want to make, while using 11,000 agency staff?? What's your take on that?

Actually the agency worker never lost any pay, simply was moved to someone more accommodating. Shame really, she was very pretty girl, far better looking than myself or my partner!! . And I did seek her out to explain it was nothing personal, just that RM management have become really petty and nasty in their treatment of us and that didn't inspire me to help out. 1 week in and she now understands what we have to put up with!
