Please people, wise up and start fighting fire with fire.

As soon as is possible after these 2 strike days, let whoever handles annual leave know that you are no longer willing to carry over any annual leave each year - remember, carrying over annual leave is purely a mutual decision between the employer AND YOU. If you don’t agree, then don’t carry any over.

Insist on it being booked in this holiday year. Ignore any claims of leave being full, that’s not your problem. If your manager/book room staff still refuses, ask them to put in writing that they are denying you your legally entitled annual leave so you can start an employment tribunal.

We have to stop helping them because they aren’t helping us.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

One of the cited variants of "the beatings will continue until morale improves" is "there will be no leave until morale improves". :hmmmm
The machine stops.

Zareena - this means war!!!!!

Never going above and beyond ever again. I am now going to walk my round at a slower pace. I will not start work a minute early. I will not take any shortcuts.

How do you like them apples?

Surely this technically would or should work the other way also ie. When posties work their days off - technically they should earn an additional amount of annual leave if they are working more than their contracted hours / days.
Potential here for a lot of IT’s.
Hopefully someone from the CWU HQ could get this checked out by their solicitors

Annual leave is calculated on contracted hours. Overtime does not enter the equation. Though the employer can give extra days as a contractual entitlement as well.

Very Valid point :Applause

That'll mess up their lazy management habits! :cuppa

50 hours that I still can’t book, now being told that I will lose some of that. I can’t see how this kinda of stuff is helping it’s just antagonising the workforce!!

Ask for it in writing that they won’t let you book your legally entitled annual leave. Then the next step is an employment tribunal.

Counting next years entitlement, out of which I've had 4 weeks leave booked, I will have 208 hours carried over by April 2023 and they think I give a s**t about 1.8 days being taken?

Weak and petty move which will only strengthen resolve.

And how exactly will the poster just down tools and take annual leave without abandnment of duty charge?

There really is some bad advice given out that can get people into real trouble

It is his leave entitlement it is not the discretion of management to decide if he gets it given but for managers to facilitate it.
If they cannot manage it find a job where they can manage peoples leave your breaking the law by not allowing people the time off.

The employer can say when you take that annual leave, as long as they provide that statutory right within that leave year

But you just cannot down tools and take it when you wish as stated by yourself
