I agree with you but things have changed now. Number 1 priority should be working terms & conditions. Pay increase is still important but not as much.

Worker: I want a payrise

Fatcat: OK, we can give you a payrise, but it's going to cost you some terms and conditions... (puts T&C cuts on the table)

Worker: Not arsed about pay for me and many others it’s about terms and conditions <---actual post from Skuse

Fatcat: (T&C cuts taken off the table) No payrise then. Happy?

Worker: Wow, what a great deal.

Fatcat: Get back to work so I can award myself and my friends some more six figure bonuses.

We worked throughout the lock down time - the difficult time. We all earned right to work on current time. No redundancies, no change in working condition - out of question.
It's easy to post that but how many of us can strike indefinitely if the RM won't give us a no strings deal?

Back to the pay rise DW said earlier on Sky News he'd accept the £400m pay deal ST claims RM are willing to make, does anybody know what that means in % terms?
£400 million into 115000 workers = £66.89 per week.
Not sure how that works into a % figure.

We don't want any compromise on working terms and condition. If they want to change it we need to calculate it in term of cost, say it will be additional 10% on top of the inflation related increase. i.e., 15% + 10% = 25% in total and no redundancies.

You can’t get a pay rise if you don’t have a job anymore.

Any compromise/deal negotiated will include both a payrise and settlement on T&C’s.

If they want to change our terms and conditions, they need to come up with a figure on % of pay increase to compensate the difficulties we will face apart from inflation related pay increase. Two separate % of increase for two different issues. One for changing terms and condition and another is inflationary. First pay increase can be 0% if terms and conditions remain same but other one 15% remains due to inflation. Choice is on them not on us.

Ask yourself: When did the talk of redundancies start?

Haven't you guy's been paying attention. The union tried the no strings pay rise for month's, didn't get them anywhere. They realized they have to prioritize our working terms & conditions while also asking for a pay rise which is the wisest thing to do.
If they had dragged out the no strings card any longer many members would have lost faith in their leadership skills & rightly so.

Stuff the money, I just want a decent days work with a decent time to do it in. No more of two people trying to achieve what four people used to do. Oh and by the way, are we getting a pay rise in April 2023? :chuckle

I couldn't give a s**t mate. Unless we get an inflation matching pay rise without strings, or an inflation busting rise with a few strings then I won't be voting to accept any deal.

So what happens if a deal gets signed by the union & goes through without you voting for it that isn't "inflation matching" or " inflation busting"? Are you gonna quit?

If you're not gonna quit, your words means jack s**t.

They need 50% of members to vote for any deal. I won't vote for a below inflation deal. Others won't vote for late finishes, commit to deliver, annualised hours, compulsory redundancies etc.

We all have our different reasons for voting against any agreement and I find it difficult to see how they are going to get 50% to vote in favour of anything resembling the "final offer" currently on the table.

I fully expect industrial action to continue until Thompson is forced out. He can't back down and remain in charge. We can't back down this time in any way or else Thompson will simply keep coming back for more.

I enjoy the job as it is currently, but am quite confident that I can very easily find another the moment that this one stops being to my liking or if I get the VR that I applied for, although I suspect that it is not simply over-subscribed but is actually massively over-subscribed.

Yeah but if a deal did somehow go through with better terms & with no inflation matching rise, would you quit? A simple yes or no would suffice.
