You’re complaining about there’s other jobs out there for these lads maybe it’s you who should be looking for other jobs if you’re no longer happy with your employment.
We are a private company and like any company whether I or anyone else like it is all about money for shareholders.
There are very few jobs out there that pay as well, yes there is a few but there are also very limited number of jobs where we get the perks we get.

Where has poster saying they are crossing line??Halfhappy wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 22:45It turns toxic because, and I've said this before, posting onto a site, that you're crossing the line, is always going to get a reaction. The people breaking the strike can't possibly be, out of the tens of thousands of strikers, the only people who have families, mortgages, are part time, have only the one income, are panicking about redundancy, are struggling, etc.... We all are, and I suppose just hearing some one listing the issues that you yourself are currently facing, and ill with, as reasons for completely undermining the fight against losing your terms, conditions and job, is maybe just poking a lion with a stick. It's not hard to understand. We're all emotional at the moment.Redshadow wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 22:24Why does this have to become so toxic all the time?
Why do so many people have so little empathy for the plight of their colleagues?
How do any of us know what a co-worker is going through that might force them to make a choice we may not like.
Instead of calling each other managers and cowards and stooges how about trying to find out if you can help some-one who is struggling.
Have some empathy for others,i'm sure most of us are famillar with the saying walk a mile in some-one elses shoes.
I know i'll get called all sorts for posting this but it needs saying and I need it off my chest.
Thanks for reading

The sacrifices that gave your terms and conditions the rights for free men ie not bonded slaves the right that women have a vote and the right of free speech and some on here will trade it for 1% of nothing!

Can I just say I think it's a bit strong to compare our strike to war when theire is a real serious conflict going on not less than 2000 miles away by air.
Yes we are struggling but we are in an industrial dispute not in danger of missles falling on us or being sent to the frontline in the freezing winter.
Sorry to go off topic

O.k I'm going to leave this topic here, for others to think on.
Thank you everyone for the replys and for debating the issue with me.
I obviously need to go away and consider some of the answers I have been given, but i'm not sure if posting on here is really for me so will probably go back to lurking.
Good luck to everyone whatever your choices and Happy wintervale festival to one and all if thats not to early.

Re: Breaking point
Pretty much every right you have now as a working person has been won by sacrifices from other workers.
Trades Unionists over the years have fought and sacrificed a lot to win you sick pay, paid annual leave, maternity pay, paternity pay, weekends or days off, limited hours, minimum wage, health and safety standards, toilet and meal break allowances and facilities. And much, much more.

Re: Breaking point
Strike breaking always seems to get the most attention on here. It is a shame people are starting to give up & crossing the picket line, especially as Simon is turning up the heat on us. If anything it should motivate us to squeeze them further.
The redundancy criteria should be proof to everyone that Simon & co don't care about us. We all know a non driver in our office that works hard & they want rid of them as though their useless. Can't let them get away with these type of proposals.
There should be exceptions to people who are genuinely struggling to pay bills or are in alot of debt but these are rare cases. Most of us can cope.

I think the biggest issue is their clear desire to turn the company into another DHL/Evri gig economy model.supermandan2018 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:57Okay I’ll side with you, if you show me where it’s says that out paid breaks are being removed and the new sick pay is good, everyone I know gets minimal or statutory sick pay and we’re complaining about losing 3 days of our 2nd absence.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:44You mean the perks that were hard fought for and if rm get their way , about to be removed.supermandan2018 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:42So you’d rather see Royal Mail go completely under and 115,000 people lose their jobs.bigal383 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:24I have 3 young children my mrs is at uni these lads at breaking point iam at breaking point but I can see futhur past my end of my nose

Embarrassing.
Or is it that people won’t be able to have 2 extra weeks leave every year???
People are starving, cold, homeless and we’re complaining about minimal changes to sick!!! In my mind you’re embarrassing.
Maybe the union should stop worrying about minor issues and try and sort out the bigger redundancy issues!!
The only reason they haven't sacked us all already and re-employed us on zero hour contracts with no uniform or company vans is because its illegal.
Please don't try and frame this as a minor dispute which is being fought over a few extra sick days or holiday entitlement.
There is a habit in this country to compare any jobs with decent terms and condition and pay with to those that are clearly being treated terribly. 'You get more than the nurses, what are you moaning about'; 'try working for Yodel mate, couldn't just walk out there, you be out door'....
These jobs should be getting paid on par if not more than us. Just because the system has screwed the hard working citizens of the U.K doesn't mean those with a union shouldn't fight for their rights.
A very poor argument that is often thrown at us.
