I've applied for VR because the only reason I've stuck with RM for the last 18 months or so is because I was expecting there to be redundancies and I wanted to at least walk away with something. Under the old VR terms I would never have got it because of lack of seniority. That said, I have a feeling RM will renege on the deal once one of their accountants has crunched the numbers, and go for statutory redundancy across the board as the cheaper option. We've already learned it's unwise to underestimate just how low RM will go. I did ask my manager about redundancies yesterday and they looked very unhappy about the question and wouldn't give a straight answer. I just pointed out that the whole process was disincentivising so they shouldn't really expect much from me in the meantime.
