As I left work today there was far more mail still in the office than went out. Yorks untouched. Absolute tip. That's all going nowhere and you can double that volume come Friday. Most dropped loops, some left 3/4 walks.

Hint to anyone from the regulator interested in knowing how much mail is left in the units for the next 3 days, ask for the official failure total then arrange an audit. The real amount of failed items will be 10 times bigger.

Coming in early, working days off etc isn't "shooting yourself in the foot" if you are concentrating on mail: the company has said (and demonstrated) that we are "a parcels company first." As long as the specials and tracked are being done, RM don't care; the fact that several DO's were still knocking out Christmas cards in February this year, and the lack of meaningful media/public outcry about that, showed them that they don't need to.

If someone wants to stay out an extra hour to make sure their customers (recipients) get their NHS letters, Christmas cards etc then good on them, Royal mail don't give a monkeys if that stuff is delivered or just piled up next to a frame. Every house in Britain can complain about delayed letters, it won't affect Simon as we are the only company that can do it... it's when the companies sending the all important parcels start walking away that he gets all uppity.
This rhetoric of "they'll notice when the York's are piled high" is outdated... The people really shooting themselves in the foot are the managers sending people out with just their tracked, ignoring days of mail so they can pretend everything is fine on workplace

They had an overtime ban in our office for a day then rolled it back. Was happy to lose pay to watch the place burn and expose how unachievable duties are if working to time but the management soon saw that and brought it back quick as a flash.
