Our depot has been using these trackers for nearly 6months now they are aright pain :silenced Best laugh was a few months back 1 driver got pulled at the end of his duty for "a unofficial 20min stop" when aske why his reply was "i needed a cr*p, want to know how many sheets i used" :chuckle, I have heard some drivers say that wrapping tin/silver foil around the little ariel disrupts the signal :whistle never tried it myself as my duty is tied down so tight on run times it's not worth it. Some managers that monitor it take great pride in "You were 3mins late departing" or "You were 1min late at arrivals". Mind you I've never known the phone part to work even when broken down and you only get a response if you press the 'LITTLE RED BUTTON' then they ring your mobile :Applause to which you reply "By the way i need recovery"

According to RM this is not what they are to be used for, there is to be no big brother bollox, the union needs to know of every incident like this to stop it.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If ever there was a case to stick to your 318 folks this is it. Don't avoid heavy traffic if it is on your route, don't deviate from your route. If they know where you are (and incidentally your average speed) then it can also help prove that some 318s are unrealistic. They can be a help as well as a hindrance.
Glasgow driver.

Q. Who exactly are the Competition?

I tend to think the same way. If done right they should not be a threat. However, we are talking about RM here and the CWU HQ will have to be very strong in building in safeguards against unscrupulous managers who use the information in other than an agreed way.

What we want or rather don't mind is for Joe Blogs to know that we have his packet and we are 2 streets away.

What we dont want is DOMs and Lineos asking why on Tuesday at 11.26 you were at 3 Acia Gardens but Friday you did not get there till 12.07, or calling you in next day and asking why you were standing at 25 Thatcher Way for 5 minutes when you are only allowed 1 minute, or why your average speed on Monday is higher than Friday.

What it could be good for is to show that when you claim you went over - you actually did, or when someone claims that you broke their precious plant pot at 12.34, but the tracking system shows you were at an entirely different place.

As with most things new its not the tracking system that we should be afraid of as it is neither good or bad it is after all just a system. However, what makes it good, bad or indifferent is how its handled or managed by everyone.

Any equipment issued for scanning or confirming signed for items would have to be returned daily to the office for safe keeping and for recharging. Surely this is going to add time to your overall delivery span and working times. Therefore the duties would presumably have to be shortened accordingly to fit the 3.5hrs spec?
