So we are now back to 2% pay offer... sounds like Thompson has taken his ball home and doesn't want to play anymore.

Did anyone really think he is going to back down? Here we are, less than a month before christmas, with him looking down both barrels and he hasn't blinked once.

My personal belief is the PEC have been taken over by the most militant and they won't put anything to us as it is mainly driven by london and we all know, they are a law to themselves. Quite a few in my office having read the final offer said they would vote for that given the chance. Personally I don't think it's good enough yet. Sooner or later we will have to reballot and I am not sure the union will get such massive support.

I personally think the money aspect in the offer is irrelevant. The vote would be about the future of RM. If you vote to accept the offer you vote to take a massive leap into the unknown. If anyone is naive to think that acceptance will be the end of it is living on planet zogg.
If you are happy to take that leap then you accept the consequences. RM have shown that agreements are not worth the paper they are written so anything that is agreed now will only last until RM consider it no longer serves their purpose.

the offer cannot be accepted purely based on the facts he won't take compulsory redundancies off the table after march 2023. If the offer is accepted, then we're pretty much agreeing on them making us all redundant and replacing us with agency. If they took redundancies off table at this stage, i'd consider just taking it, even though it's rubbish.

How much desire is there out there to be an owner-driver, especially in this day and age with the cost of fuel and cost of living in general?

11,000 Agency staff (so already we are essentially at least 11,000 people understaffed)

I thought agency staff are expensive as Royal Mail pay the agency staff member and the agency?

Terminating temporary contracts - how many staff is that?

Wanting to get rid of how many through voluntary redundancy?

Then how many through compulsory redundancy....


I am waffling on...

I have no idea how many owner drivers they want, how many people they want on lower paid contracts (not necessarily owner drivers), how many of us they want rid of....


It's all the unknown so we have to keep striking until Thompson gets sacked and RM come to their senses.

My opinion: RM are losing the battle to win the war. They don’t care about customers, just profit.

With any privatised industry profit for shareholders is the number one priority with any board of directors. Customers and employees are irrelevant. A seriouse dose of reality is needed. Gone are the days Royal Mail was a public service. It is now a cold hard corporate business run for profit.

My goodness. I can't believe how much people mop up this utter rubbish this CEO spouts. He's telling you most people crossed the line, he's getting his managers to say offices are cleared, and post pictures. This was the 2nd final offer. I can't believe the amount of people who think that this CEO will get the go ahead, from shareholders, to destroy the business, because he said this was his final deal. As for the union being taken over by militants, come on, man! That's the rhetoric of a Tory MP. Once again I will point you to a clause in this deal so many want accept, apparently.

"Offer is conditional on the CWU withdrawing all Industrial Action and balloting our members on the offer, which if rejected (absolutely the likely outcome) would not re-ballot their members for Industrial Action on Pay or Change matters, plus no further ballots for Industrial Action linked to proposed headcount reductions or the VR terms."

If the union is no threat, and the deal is a sure winner, why take away your right to collective bargaining? He wants to silence you.

BTW, I've just seen they CWU have struck a deal for BT. Hmmm... Those darn militants!

Your wrong employees they might not care but customers they do thats why rm took the evri contract back for instance,and its not technically fully privatised with 8 billion letters to deliver just last year.
