Door to Doors.

Post by POSTMAN »

Love 'em or hate 'em they are here to stay, regardless of what we,or the public think of them.
The general feeling i get especially around my office is if they went, then no one would be too bothered,
regardless of the money lost.
But they are such a big money earner and,we are told vital for the business,
that there are are plans to increase the amount that we are able to do.
This seems to be in conjunction with the Union who seems to think that it's what we want.
They are also trying to get us a higher payment for them as it has not risen for some years.
It's not want we want in our office, what about you?

Vote,and your thoughts please.

I don't know where the Union have gotten this idea that we all love D2Ds and want more.
They are an absolute pain in the backside. They seem to be getting bigger, heavier and increasing in number all the time.
I didn't deliver them for around 1 and a half years, and I only got caught not doing them because I wasn't booking them.
Probably the worst part of the job :(

sorry will try and tone down the shouting that was only from the rumour mill but the dafter it sounds the more likely it is to happen rumour was from boss though
dom asked us nicely to accept the loss of 8 part time walks thanks to geo route seemed shocked when we said no now they want 13 full time jobs with an 8am start and a 1030 out great idea with a 5 hour rural banger to do seems a shame the kids school shuts at 15.30 and back to del in the dark so much for health and safety plus 2nd rumour on d2d was 1 lot every day to be cleared up every day in otherwords every drop every day

THE FUTURES SO BRIGHT IVE GOTTA WEAR SHADES

Latest news is RM have said that"The D2D product has taken a turn for the worse and there was no new money available"
that's regarding upping payments to us.
RM have not supplied any figures at the moment to back this up.

D2D a right touchy subject.Me i dont mind them as i can earn a few extra quid and not work to much harder, at the same time i can understand y people get pissed off having to do them but can anyone turn down 20 -30 quid a week extra for going to all them address anyway? The union and royal mail must remember that physically there is a limit as to how much people can do, i think 4 contracts a week is enough for anyone. If they want to take on more EMPLOY MORE STAFF to do them.

 The latest on D2Ds as I understand it in a nutshell is, six contracts for about 25/30 quid extra on average. Royal Mail and CWU can't agree it could be part of a big ballot.

If we don't do them the competition will.

No great shakes until you find out it gives the competition a delivery workforce in place ready to do (our) delivery work.

Not convinced? see the news on TNT.

Maybe the question should be 'do you want a job with door to door's, or no job at all?

For me and D2Ds its not the delivery its the preping it takes too long and they dont give you the time to do it. If it did go to 6 that would be ok so long as it came presorted. If it didn't would that mean they have to rejig georoute from 89% of drop points per day up to 100% per day, including saturdays. :Confused
