Whatever’reasonable’ demands they want now they will be back next year with more unreasonable ones. They will have a two tier workforce and know this is our last stand. No strike in the future will be this solid , we have to stand firm.LouBarlow wrote: ↑27 Nov 2022, 07:12Instead of focussing on the CWU propaganda read what RM offered in their latest attempt to compromise. All of the points you made were addressed, but given how feeble the CWU’s communications have been lately (they seem focussed on wacky memes on Facebook now) it is no wonder you aren’t aware.Gasman11 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 23:22How are you enjoying your later start and finishing times, that commitment to deliver everything regardless of volume, those compulsory Sundays, your annualised hours attendance pattern. Here's hoping you're feeling well Bob and haven't needed anytime off due to illness, be a real struggle without any pay for those first 3 days of any potential sickness absence, remember when the odd strike breaker used to moan about losing a day or two of pay for industrial action, lol, the good old days. Great job now Bob isn't it.
- working hours would be two hours a week longer in winter. Two hours shorter in summer. No obligation to complete at all. No annualised hours.
- Sundays to be voluntary
- Sickness would be paid for the first instance, then reduced for the second within a set timescale.
All reasonable demands, but of course we weren’t given the option to vote on such a deal or even be aware of the details of it in some cases obviously.

Re: Lockout.
For those professing the merits of the 2nd "best an final offer" and, advocating the idea the union is entirely responsible for all this with pointless ballots and industrial acton. I would once again point you to the only clause that matters, imo, in this offer...
"Offer is conditional on the CWU withdrawing all Industrial Action and balloting our members on the offer, which if rejected (absolutely the likely outcome) would not re-ballot their members for Industrial Action on Pay or Change matters, plus no further ballots for Industrial Action linked to proposed headcount reductions or the VR terms."
It is correct, that the CWU is the problem, it is the problem for this CEO, not its members.

Re: Lockout.
I thought the point you were making was that he doesn’t want an agreement? We can keep striking for as long as we like if that is the case and he won’t budge surely? I thought it was a conspiracy theory that ST was just in there to run the company and the union into the ground, before it is bought up and split up, but maybe there is something to it.

Sadly this thread has now derailed and descended into a cesspit of name calling which only divides us further and plays into the hands of ST.Gary55 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 21:15c***FilthyBloke wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 17:33Manager has already told me he will bring the parcels to me next Wednesday and Thursday.
Will be the same area I deliver to now. 40/50 parcels for a fair days pay. Suits me
Let’s get back to the original topic please.

Re: Lockout.
How is it obvious? Disputes are rarely ended in a day, or because its Christmas. He's not a narcissist, or a genius, or Putin. He's a man who's job is to break one of the last remaining unions, so he can force through compulsory redundancies, and replace staff with agency, self employed, an a small amount of staff on less terms and conditions, in order to extract more short-term profit for shareholders.Wullie10 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 22:44It's obvious they'll be no agreement and he has already made up his mind what will happen in 2 months or so. As people have said he is a classic narcissist. He may be sacked eventually but that won't bother him. The strikes have been a absolute disaster in my opinion when I saw postman working Sundays to make up lost wages. Going on strike because one of the million reasons we are told that are going to happen was compulsory Sundays. Didn't make any sense at all. Now like Putin another narcissist he's just stoking his ego and playing games without any chance of peace. O see no way out to be honest.

Re: Lockout.
Can we get back to the original topic please, my office isn't an intended "parcel hub" office and it's been open on every strike so far with an increasing number of people going in, unfortunately.
So does this mean it should be made to stay shut and anyone wanting to work will have to go to a neighbouring bigger office ?
I bloody hope so as I'm told that the local big office that currently does the LAT's for the area has only had 2 out of about 75 going in.

Calling colleagues Sc*bs, c***s, dickheads and probably all sorts of other things?sindba wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 23:14We're not bullies, we are decent….posted wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 23:011) there’s language in the workplace and there’s how you treat your colleagues and what you call them. The culture, if you will, is different in each DO and I get that and appreciate it but foul language about your colleagues (or anybody for that matter), really? Can’t equate the two.sindba wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 22:45Um. Have you even stepped foot in a delivery office recently?posted wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 22:22Threads like these and the disgusting language prove that of all those on picket lines, there is likely a small yet significant percentage in each workplace that are only continuing to strike because of the extreme amongst the more civilised.
The fear of being bullied, called out, ostracised and worse all for not towing the party line rather than what they feel is right.
On this thread alone - and I know people are worse online than in real life when they’re just minnows - I’ve seen people use words like dickheads, c***s, turd and on another thread sc*bs or (sausage chips and beans - trying to be smart).
It’s this extreme minority that becomes a crutch for potentially false support or people striking but still feeling s**t about it rather than content that they’ve done the right thing by withdrawing their labour for the day.
1) the language is a LOT more industrial than you'll hear on here.
2) solidarity is rock solid and determination is increasing. It's not extreme, it's how we all feel. We hate how badly we're being treated.
3) Streak breakers are known, but just get on with their job. We're too bloody busy and exhausted for politics talk. There's hardly any of them anyway.
4) it's not a minority pissed off. It's pretty much every postie in this country.
You seem to have a low opinion of postal workers.
2) yes I get the feeling of being treated badly and solidarity. But how does that translate into justification of using such words I mentioned about your colleagues?
3) even if there’s only one strike breaker, if the people on here are anything like that in real life then actually I sympathise more with the strike beakers, in that particular instance. It doesn’t change my stance on the dispute but I’ve lost all respect for those bullies.
4) as mentioned in 2). My point isn’t about how many are pissed off (quantity) or how much they’re pissed off(quality?!), it’s about the vocal nasties on here and how they manifest their “pissed off-ness”. The vast majority are civilised, I know that and will continue to believe that.
I have a low opinion of anybody who mistreats (even if just online) anybody else with that kind of language, be they posties, managers, the CEO, shareholders or customers.
I see you keep bringing it back to the dispute and how the company is treating you but these words are being used by OPGs against fellow OPGs because they choose not to strike.

Re: Lockout.
So I haven’t actually gone to work during strike days…
Iv been lucky enough that most of the days have fallen on my days off or annual leave…
But I know people who have.
And you ask why they don’t want to walk past you lot?
Look at your responses on here.
They are “rats, scum, strike breakers, thieves….”
They are people who’s own family should be “ashamed of them.”
They are people you will “never talk to again, never open the door to them again, never swap days off with …”
Why would anyone want to deal with that when they may be in a predicament that means striking is not viable for them.
If you know someone who’s going to work on strike day and it’s just greed that’s the reason then at the end of the day so what? It’s still their choice.
If you don’t know the reason but are still willing to brand them with insults and ignore them for the rest of their careers then that’s down to you. But personally, I think that is more cowardly than anyone who feels they have no choice but to go to work.
I wouldn’t expect anyone to not be able to have food on the table or risk losing their house because I don’t want terms and conditions changing.
Mental health and family life is far more important to me than that.
So to every rat or scumbag that decides to go in, I salute you.

Re: Lockout.
This Forum is getting just like Facebook, on which I used to play a game you might like to play?
Intially just scan the gist of the post and try and guess who the Poster is. A bit easier on Facebook because some "Friends" are so predictable and mainly post just photos. One always posts pictures of what he's eating, another pictures of his dog, yet another various alcoholic drinks sat on a table.
Once you've had a look at the post just scroll up, check the poster and see if your guess was correct!
On RMC I do it slightly differently .... I check out the poster first .... and then I ignore the usual RM Trolls!
Life's a lot less stressfull when you avoid pointless arguments. And I don't know about the rest of you but I'm getting enough stress with these proposed changes from RM ?

Re: Lockout.
The reason why strike-breakers are treated with such disdain is because they’re actively damaging their own interests, and ours, for the sake of short-term gain.
If you want to see a world without unions, and without the improved terms and conditions, look no further than America where low-paid staff are virtually on call 24/7, 365 days of the year. A minimum wage of $7.25, no paid holidays, and the chance of being sacked whenever.
Look at Elon Musk taking over Twitter - skilled workers can be fobbed off at will just because.
We’re fighting for the past, present and future.
