So I been striking since august or whenever this all started, this week I crossed the line, the hardliners can give me as much grief as they want, this is going nowhere, if you can’t respect my decision that’s your problem,
10,000 redundancy equates to almost 2 million lost in cwu subs a year, both sides are just as bad as each other in ruining this company it’s just about money, and we are in the middle put in this awful position , it’s totally out of order.

I read comments like “ get extra job” do overtime work days off, but with childcare this is somewhat difficult to do. Nobody cares about you, nobody in your office will help you in your hour of need, don’t be a sheep do what’s best for you.
The job is gonna get s**t either way, if if gets to the point where you just totally despise the job , then get out.

We need to sort this out fast and get back to work dave not gonna pay your bills , he is alright with his 6 figure salary

The end.

Like I predicted more and more people will begin to see through the Union and the hardcore followers; and will return to work because of the money or the somewhat hopelessness of the situation. And being treated like a Pleb by the CWU - they keep asking for Posties to sacrifice their wages for their own importance and self indulgence; not mainly about our pay deal or terms.

Those advising others to look for alternative means of income should also consider that a bird in hand is worth more than those in the bushes. As if it that easy to get alternative source of income or even overtime these days.

Asking people to borrow money when they can simply work and be paid is crazy!

The strikes are not even that effective in terms of workload in some DOs. The effect is more a loss of business for Royal Mail and then more cost cutting...

What a load of nonsense. We have actually had less people cross the picket line the longer this has gone on as they have finally realised for themselves what is at stake with the constant threats and propaganda from the company.

On another of your points it’s literally the easiest time in history to get another income if you have the geographical knowledge that we do.

As for workload in your DO I’m not sure where you work but we have stuff piled up everywhere, the managers can’t even seem to cover all specials when we are out.

We'll see Chris, the impacts of this weeks strikes are already causing significant bottlenecks and this will increase dramatically with the knock on effect of next weeks action. The pressure is starting to ramp up now and in our area the support for CWU is 100% solid and becoming more emboldened by the day.

He's lying, obviously

Everyone in my office is helping me. By fighting alongside me.

Our office is 100% and getting more determined.

I’m behind the strikes but it does look like it’s getting us nowhere, I thought this would’ve been resolved but Thompson looks like he’s got a mandate to go as far as he likes to break the union and get thru changes which will deliver more profit in the future

He already has ffs just like you but looks like he had the balls to cross a picket line unlike you waiting on a manager bringing your mail to you.

If that's what you think just do that but there's no need to come on here and make a big song and dance about it.

Even if I couldn't afford food and was starving I'd rather go eat food out of bins than cross the picket line..

Your saying we need to end this fast as we need bills paying, but if we end the strike and accept thompsons meagre terms in time we will be infinitely out of pocket and struggling to pay bills/whatever rather than the few months hardship we are now facing.

Personally I'd rather strike indefinitely until the company crumbles and thompson gets nothing than accepting far less than we are worth and making that ***** filthy rich, more so than he already is.

Until the company crumbles and Thompson gets nothing... Come on! That does not make sense!

Keep striking but most of us will be back to work soon - on the same terms as the final offer; and most of us will manage just fine - just like most are doing with losing pay due to strikes

My suggestion would be to strike for an entire month. Then everyone can do a month temping somewhere else to pay for the strikes. Otherwise this will drag on. This would be the ultimate weapon. Just an idea

Don't have to justify it to us mate... like others say do what ya gotta do. No one here to judge.
All I would say is I can guarantee you are not the only one struggling. I have many colleagues on the brink but would rather starve to retain their pride and dignity than cross the line.
Not saying they are right and you are wrong just pointing out that these fights are stuggles. Anything worth fighting for is.... Hopefully when this is over you will thank those that fought to keep your job decent!

A number of staff are receiving mail from managers as an alternative to going into work on strike days

Two of ours are working at neighbouring offices, one prepped mail for 8 hours on Friday without going out on delivery.

The few who have consistently crossed the picket lines have done so at our office since well before 2009. They have their own reasons for doing that but they all go in through the back entrance. They load up around the back of the unit but they leave through the main gate to absolute silence from the staff on the picket line. It's the weirdest tense situation.

We have Christmas staff nights out every year where most attend, but they never do.

I respect it, but I'll never understand it.
