Re: Further Tactics
Leverage!!
This is what Unite organisation are doing.
Quote from The Telegraph.
Don't know about legalities, but we need to do something.
A reminder. Leverage is essentially an umbrella term for any action by a trade union, other than traditional forms of industrial action, which aims to put pressure on an employer to settle a trade dispute or otherwise meet the union’s demands. The tactic may be used in addition to or instead of traditional industrial action and is often used before a trade dispute is officially declared. They operate outside the law governing 'normal' industrial action such as strikes and overtime bans and so can be launched without a ballot, and without the need to give the employer notice of the action to be taken. The idea is pressurise and commercially embarrass employers through targeted campaigns aimed at shareholders, customers and business partners, suppliers and the general public. They also can include action directed at individual directors or managers.
Any ideas

There has been a distinct increase in interviews with the press by the union.

Re: Further Tactics
I don't like the tactic of becoming as unproductive as possible, it goes right against my whole identity, however, a smart way to play them at their own game would in fact be to totally prioritise parcels, especially atm. Go out with everything and don't touch any bags of mail until every parcel has been attempted with a delivery, knocking at up to two neighbours for each parcel. You could end up starting your walk with only time to deliver a loop on a Wednesday.
Surely if virtually no mail were ever getting delivered it might inspire a re-think?
Especially if all the soon-to-be-made-redundant people have lots of pictures on their phones of all the mail piling up in the offices, happy to reveal them to the world as soon as they're scooted out of the door?

All that would stop that is the managers instructing us not to do that - we cant just say no to instructionsnuisance wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 12:05I don't like the tactic of becoming as unproductive as possible, it goes right against my whole identity, however, a smart way to play them at their own game would in fact be to totally prioritise parcels, especially atm. What would happen to the back shift ? Or night shift ?chickenwittle wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 10:49Now there’s an idea , don’t know where we would stand legally with that but worth looking at something different.seaside wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 10:41If the strike's continue well into next year, still think an idea could be ie: Wednesday work from start time ie: 6:30 - 10:30, you would be only losing half a days pay and no time really for delivering. We could then do the same saturday.so two days finishing work at 10:30am, losing only 1 days pay. Without us being able to deliver all the tracks they still have the problem of getting them delivered.
Would they lose full days pay or go out at different times in there shift could be quiet hard to organise but not impossible

You just tell managers that you can prioritise the Specials, Tracked parcels and collections first and then deliver any loops of mail that you have afterwards. And if the manager prefers you to deliver the loops then you tell them that ok you will leave the parcels till last if you have time to do them - otherwise you will have to bring them back.
Don't forget to remind them that you are possibly delivering 3 days worth of mail and packets so they can't really expect you to deliver everything anyway - unless you like to do a ton of overtime to get everything complete.
But posties that are trying to race round trying to do 3 days worth of work into 1 day. Whats the point? I really don't see what you have to gain by doing this.

Re: Further Tactics
Or perhaps an online petition to No 10? That aways seems to do the trick!

And when the manager instructs you to continue to deliver how you have been delivering before?postslippete wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 12:30Acca Dacca wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 12:09All that would stop that is the managers instructing us not to do that - we cant just say no to instructionsnuisance wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 12:05I don't like the tactic of becoming as unproductive as possible, it goes right against my whole identity, however, a smart way to play them at their own game would in fact be to totally prioritise parcels, especially atm. Re: Further Tactics
This is one aspect of RM that's always pissed me off, even pre-strikes.
If someone wants to work their day off fine ... But they shouldn't be allowed to kick the day off cover onto the crap duty that needs covering just so they can take out "Their" Duty.
It's never going to stop because it makes life easy for the COM, and if that Duty Holder was told to cover that crap duty he probably wouldn't want to work his day off .... obviously NOT that strapped for cash then?

Possibly "Bolshey Facist Trouble Makers" if that's not an oxymoron?

Place I worked at in the 80's did this. Union would call it on the day & we'd go on strike at lunchtime.chickenwittle wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 10:49Now there’s an idea , don’t know where we would stand legally with that but worth looking at something different.seaside wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 10:41If the strike's continue well into next year, still think an idea could be ie: Wednesday work from start time ie: 6:30 - 10:30, you would be only losing half a days pay and no time really for delivering.
