If the usual April implement of pay rises apply, and the deal is for 18 months; then by implication some of the pay deal is backdated?

The pay review has been moved forward to October 2023 - what does that mean genuinely?

Oct 2022 to Mar 2023 - 6 months
April 2023 to Mar 2023 - 12 months

?
What are you on about?

Where is the April 22 to now?
I agree with and understand that there is no back pay to April 2022. However, I thought the deal will only take effect from when we agree the deal with RM.

If we are to be paid from October 2022, that is still some element in f backpay. I am not saying that is what I wanted but it is not clear from Royal Mail and only God knows what the CWU think of the backpay element of the pay deal (is it something they want or is it even as important as some of the other guff they put out).
So one month of backpay?

Hmm bit late at night to pull this 9% apart, but just off the top of my head lets call it 7% offered for THIS financial year. We are nearly into December, so 7 months down the road for this financial year.

Hmm lets be even more generous and call it 6 months. ??

Simple maths says 7 % for this financial minus 6 months backpay = 3.5 % for this financial year.

Add to that the 2% already paid = 5.5% for this financial year.

Btw I've lost track if any of that is linked to fairytail achievement targets and other such shite.

Perhaps, it is simpler than first thought

18 months pay deal could be:

April 2022 - Mar 2023
April 2023 - Sept 2023

So it appears it is backdated to April 2022. But does the CWU know or will they acknowledge or what is going on with backdated pay - ergo, the original poster

Using RM's figures, in April my wages will go up by £29.30 per week.
Sounds ok on paper.
However, when you take away the allowances they want to take they go down by £30 per week.
In effect a 70p a week pay CUT!

I've read that the Delivery Supplement is not one of the allowances that RM want to get rid of, just that new starters won't get it, is it true?

Yet. Don't think it'll be too long before RM see if they can get rid of all functional supplements

Our pension money should be backdated.

But I'm more concerned about our Terms & Conditions being eroded. I want to go into a workplace feeling confident and happy I can do the job to the best of my ability. Trouble is if your being monitored by a manager that doesn't like you, and watches your every move in a van and the PDA they could do you for performance issues.

So now we don't want PDAs and Trimbles in vans when the competition allows customer to monitor drivers? A bit late in the day for that!

Are you actually going to have any allowance taken from you in April? Are these allowances not going to be paid instalments over 1 to 2 years depending on the allowance.

Are those allowances got by very very few people worth 90% losing their wages?

The period the pay review covers is 18 months.
April 2022-October 2023.

However only the 2% already imposed applies from April 2022. The further 3.5% would be applied from when an agreement was ratified making it worth approx 1% this year.

A further 1.5% would be applied in April 2023 and the next pay review would be October 2023 rather than April 2024.

The only difference in this and the previous offer is moving forward the next pay review from April 2024 to October 2023 but that only has any value if a pay deal could be agreed in October 2023 and given that this one is 9 months late and counting that seems highly unlikely.

There is no backdated money on offer.

The allowances will be taken at some point in the future, wether or not an agreement is reached.
I have always known that at some point they would go to support a pay rise, and have expected it to happen for a long time.
My point is that legacy payments go today and then what, what happens in two years when they come back for more?
Will it be shift allowances, delivery supplements, processing supplements.
Once they start they will keep going til there is nothing left.

So in answer to your question, why should I take a PAY CUT in order for someone else to benefit.
If the offer had enabled me (and the 10% - if you believe RM"s figures) to at least see a rise in wages then I would have no problem.

There are often winners and losers when change like this happens! So you are striking mainly for your allowance (I suppose it is part of your terms with small t).

However, we all have to see the bigger picture: like you said, you alway felt that 'legacy' allowances will go... The Union had done that before for the goodness of all - better pay rate overall not just protection of about 5% of the workforce.

You are happy with the pay deal but not the allowance - yet, you are losing a lot of basic pay and pension contributions just to preserve that small allowance; that you knew were going to go anyway.

* The timeframe you gave does not correlate with your further explanation. Your allowance is not going next April - is it?

Come on. You know that Chris meant big losers and even bigger losers. It was a simple typo.

It was a general expression! A pay rise is a pay rise - some people that work even harder than us might not get a pay rise - certainly not 7%.

Nurses offered 4% so far.
People that have recently joined royal mail from lesser paid and harder job bs might think they have done well for themselves.

Anyhow! Less than 5% moaning about a loss of a legacy allowance is not a basis for everyone to suffer... Yes, I know there are other issues but I am just referring to the person saying he is getting a pay cut based on losing some of his allowances in a year's or 3 time.

* I don't even think the Union is quibbling about allowances - I will be very surprised because they had sacrificed allowances in the past for a better pay rate for all.

* It is not the worst job around and we are not the worst treated employees
