Just as a matter of interest, has there ever been a case when a CEO or accountant hasn't quite told the truth about their finances and perhaps spent some time on the inside of a government facility. I suspect there has been on more than one occasion which means there has to be some doubt over the figures. Not quite telling the truth comes easily to some people and my belief is Simple Slyman occasionally is liberal with it. One million a day my arse. I have looked back over what he has said since the start of this and maths was never his strong point as nothing adds up, so i am sorry to say there's every chance what he is saying might be porkies.redlen wrote: ↑24 Nov 2022, 19:59Those profits/dividends were paid on the previous 12 months financial figures so irrelevant in the argument.
Though agree they were fulLy aware the Covid boom was over so should have left some of that profit as a reserve fund for future years.
But Royal Mail has done nothing wrong, though unethical and irresponsible

Re: Thompsons Apology To The Public
The million pounds a day thing is clearly a “good” soundbite for the media and public to latch onto as its just such a simple thing to remember “oh Royal Mail are losing a million pounds a day”.
Im sure the reality is far more complicated and as has been said before, if youre making for example £1Billion a year profit then a year later £500milion profit, are you now losing half a billion a year?

Re: Thompsons Apology To The Public
Well it’s either sabotage or gross mismanagement.
You have to laugh when highly paid executives come out with the violins with absolutely zero self-awareness.
Why isn’t he being asked why he couldn’t have foreseen a loss of revenue?
Why he gave money away in spite of that?
Why the change in posting habits and changing demand for service wasn’t predicted when all we’ve heard for decades is that letters are in massive decline?
It’s not a stubborn or antiquated workforce that is the issue here, it is a procession of boards and executives who are rewarded handsomely by this company and now make sure their friends are too but are always, ALWAYS one step behind professionally but never, NEVER held accountable.

Simon doesn't really give a shite he'll just take the money and run ...... after he's totally ruined this business and run it into the ground.
Unfortunately a lot of us are going to be left to try and clean up the mess.

It's ALWAYS left up to us Cucumber.
I know what you're saying but when you're sat in a life boat that's sinking rapidly .... sometimes it's better to just start bailing out the water ....... instead of waiting for someone to tell you!
Perhaps wait long enough to give the COM a mental breakdown ... and then just get on and do it your way?
What the DOs are going to look like after ST's had his wave of Redundancies God Knows? It's chaos in ours if we have anyone go sick let alone get rid of staff! Are there really these massively over staffed DOs out there in Royal Mail land? Go on be honest are any of you sat around twiddling your thumbs because there's not enough work to go round?

Re: Thompsons Apology To The Public
that's EXACTLY how it is, figures are manipulated to make it look that way, then they can get away with which ever way they put it. they were losing the EXACT same amount in 2007/8 when Crozier and Leighton were in charge, .....14 years later its the EXACT same amount? BOLLOX is it. do these figures not increase with inflation? ha. they made 758 million profit announcement in May. fast forward to July, we announce strike action. the next day, the VERY NEXT DAY, they are losing, surprise surprise, A MILLION POUND A DAY. f**k off!! then they find 40 odd million to pay off 700 gaffers, then they find money to enforce a 2% payrise, then the find money to fund a 9 months pay redundancy scheme, then they find money to enhance that money by another 6 thousand pounds per person, they find money to employ, 11200 agency staff, they find money to offer us a 9% payrise. its all a pack of bare faced f***ing lies. anybody who believes that bullshit or the lying scumbag who peddles it, is as bright as an eclipse.mjd24 wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 09:14The million pounds a day thing is clearly a “good” soundbite for the media and public to latch onto as its just such a simple thing to remember “oh Royal Mail are losing a million pounds a day”.

Royal Mail was not a privatised industry when Leighton and Crozier ran the show.
Simon Thompson cannot maniulate the figures as he is accountable to the Regulator and a statutory obligation with a Fiduciary duty. Criminal charges can follow as what he states publically can alter the share price.

There are many millionairs on paper
Most people are assett rich, cash poor,
The majority of wealth is tied up in the property you own, but cannot access as ready cash
