Doctor DOM

Post by Sparx71 »

Have any other offices been told that while off sick you must report in daily. If not,the office will attempt to contact you.If no contact can be made, your pay will be stopped. We have had examples of people, off sick, being told to come back on light duties or have their pay stopped. Also, one of our managers threatened a DO who was sick, saying that he could obtain his medical records from his doctor, under a "new law" which allowed this with a verbal agreement over the phone!!!!..Are these sort of things taught in Management training,or do you have to be born full of BS....

Me thinks the manager who claimed that he could obtain the sick persons medical records is bullsh..ing of the 1st degree. Call his bluff get him to name the new law to which he refers. Regardless, an individual employees medical records would be classed as 'sensitive' material and therefore would be covered by the Data Protection Act unless anyone knows different.

Will my employer see my medical records?

No, unless you give your written consent. Your occupational health doctor must be satisfied that you have been told about the purpose of the examination, and that results will only be disclosed to your employer with your written consent.

Can my employer get access to my medical records at work?

No. If your employer wants access to your occupational health records, then it must obtain your written agreement, or apply for a court order to gain access.

If you are worried about any employer or anyone else getting to your records, maybe from an old consent given, just write to your doctor and ask them NOT to give any info to anyone without YOUR WRITTEN CONSENT TO THEM. That way they mark your records to that effect and will show you any letter they are ASKED to send. :hmmmm This way you can verify what they have asked for and if it is relevant.

The above, and the fact DOM's are saying they will contact you every day of your sickness, seems to be cropping up a lot lately!
Summins a-foot.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This just seems to be a way of getting rid of staff but I'd really like to know how the managers will get the time to do the calls.

This comes from "Our new approach to absence"the PO wanted to roll out in Oct 2004 which RM wanted people to ring in every day before the duty time , the Union had to go into talks for 18 months with RM Board & Snr Mgt . Then RM wanted to "do a deal " which the new AP was trialed and we all know what that means !.

Then RM wanted team working and a new RMAP brought in , the Union balloted the DC's and staff rejected it , 93% in London , 66% in the provinces .

It's obvious there's pressure from on very high for a new RMAP and RM are trying to sideline the CWU again !, but these Leighton Mouthpieces are quite happy to go along with this draconian approach .

Things never go away with RM , they just stay on the back burner for a later day.

That "Manager" mentioned would be laughed out of a Tribunal , but RM seem to want civil action taken against them every fortnight . You have to be very careful when you start acting and sounding like a lawyer , never mind a Doctor DUM ,as you'll meet up with someone smarter and cleverer than you who will call your bluff and you will get bitten on the a*** . His and RM's Arrogance can prove to be his achillies heel .

"Freedom to run your offices as you see fit and not have that awful union interfering ? " according to the RM battle plan ? --Bulls**t , woe betide if you don't do what Uncle Leighton and his Bryclcreemed gangsters tell you more like .

We had it in another vaguely similar Industry , a Area Manager rang someone up and told him to go back to work or he'd sack him for REPUDIATION of Contract . Only when he got the paid Union Official , the Divisional Organiser in , did that attack dog back off.

I'd a BRF , the ATOS Dr was genuinely surprised to see so many ill people and was under the impression most people were on very light duties :funneh :funneh , god only knows what sort of c*** , Snr/Area Mgt have been feeding them with.

I produced all the Hospital Paperwork to show I was under the care of a Consultant who are second only to God in Hospitals , they actually know more than these Dr DUM's;believe it or not !.

I got my first letter from don't give A TOSS , saying they had no records from my GP , their paperwork was riddled with factual errors , didn't make grammatical sense etc ,basically very shoddy & amateurish .

I then got a "caring " second letter "asking me nicely " to get the GP to make arrangements for details to be provided , "Caring " RM also sent me a copy .

I can only conclude RM are working on the basis that You can't really prove you've a serious underlying medical condition so we are going to treat you accordingly ." All absences are treated as geniune " BUT the contradiction is , and RM don't get Contradiction is "We'll trip you up " .
[/b]
I've had to apologise profusely to the GP about these Idiots in Charge and point out these ATOS Corporate Cowboys are trying to get their noses in the part privatized through the back door NHS Trough , thin end of the wedge etc .

The GP said I'll support you and write a longhand letter which are normally chargeable to be produced if the need arises .

CMA sent out a Directive to tread carefully , but this bloody minded approach is a jackbooted one from the Third Reich . P** Poor Senior Mgt /HR and Area Management are to blame . :lfo :cfo :lfo

This allready happens at my office and it's been the norm for nearly 3-4 years!

If you are off sick they phone you everyday and ask you when you're coming back.

If they can't contact you at home they jump to stupid conclusions and threaten all sorts. They tend to suspect that your sunning yourself on a beach somewhere or something equally stupid.

They have even told us that if your signed off work for a period of time by your Doctor you should ignore his professional advice and come back to work when YOU feel like it....but only if your coming back early from being signed off of course!

This is B & H personified, and the lies we come to expect from management.

Throughout this site we have many a tale of idiocy, abuse, and Kafka-esque madness from an increasingly desperate management regime.

How do we go about compiling such evidence and presenting it to a TV station, quality newspaper or documentary company on how and why the nation's postal service is failing? The truth has to come out. It's no good us all just talking about it on this forum when the public we serve deserves to know what's going on.

At the time of writing I have been off sick for five weeks. During this time I have had only one phone call. This was from the new starters coach just before the first sicknote was about to expire, asking if I felt like coming in on light duties. I told him I had an appointment with my GP coming up and it would entirely depend on what he said.
