Re: dried up
My last working shift was 2nd November. I was booked in for next Wednesday but as its a strike day I declined. I'm worried my contract will be terminated as it will soon be 28 days since my last engagement (as stated in the contract), will this happen?

Re: dried up
Unlikely, I've gone 35 days without a shift a couple of times and I know a number of people who have gone over 6 weeks. If you have any holiday you can book a half day each week to pause the time without a shift and you'll get some pay. You could do this anyway to avoid potentially going over 6 weeks without a shift and losing the higher pay rate if you are awr qualified.

Re: dried up
Have had a few 2 weeks without work this Christmas period so far, I think the strikes and the lower volume mean they don't really need Angard that much. If you won't work on the strike days, they especially don't need you. Just reminds me how bad the Angard system is for temps.

Re: dried up
It is illegal you cant replace someones job for 6 months after redundancy, that means no new starters or agency, hopefully the cwu will take them to court.SimonLS wrote: ↑21 Nov 2022, 14:18So not only are we getting one four hour shift a week if we are lucky, thanks to Xmas casuals, the CWU want us gone:
From the CWU doc just posted on the pay talks page:
Royal Mail must commit to prioritising the removal of all Agency staff before Voluntary Redundancies take place and confirm that they will not hire new entrants, including on lower terms and conditions, across the business to replace existing employees who choose to take Voluntary Redundancy. We believe this practice may be illegal.

Re: dried up
Actually got a shift this week although it was through replying to an email, not being booked in advance. Now booked for 4 shifts next week so some work about. I was expecting a total mess when I went in Tuesday but not too bad. It was quieter than normal for this time of year so guess the stikes are having an effect and noticed work from some of the bigger RM customers was missing. Atmosphere in the mail centre very subdued, around 90 redundancies announced and most people pessimistic about the future.

Re: dried up
just thought about it, pretty much for the past week there have been multiple agency people sharing royal mail vans going out to deliver parcels? just doesn't make sense. yet I can't come in early to prep my frame, due to lack of hours.

Re: dried up
Even with the strikes aftermath, they haven't booked me in. They send the emails out but I get no response. 2 years with no letdowns on my side. Maybe they're prioritising strike breakers?

Re: dried up
Bombarded with emails from Angard this week offering shifts although already booked but nothing for next week offered so far.
One thing I did get confirmed this week is that the lower overtime rates are currently suspended so the normal hourly rate is paid for all hours worked over 37. If this has been done to get people to do more hours an email telling us about it would have been a good idea. No detail on how long this applies for so be wary about going over 37 hours after Christmas.

Yep. That's how it is every Christmas. Casuals before agency staff. 'cos they're cheaper (unpaid breaks)SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Dec 2022, 07:07The order seems to be:
Xmas Casuals > Angard/Agency > RM staff on OT

Re: dried up
And here we are again. Lucky to get more than one four-hour shift a week at my MC. Barely any emails for shifts at any time. I expected January to be quiet but this is ridiculous.

Re: dried up
The workload has dropped off massively, a lot more than normal, probably due to the cost of living crisis people aren't spending so much money
