Just heard from one union rep at an office about 20 miles away saying “98% of staff are going in this week “ it is only him & 1 other staying out.

That's a lot of people willing to roll over and let RM do what they want. They'll soon be moaning when later starts, annualised hours and commit to deliver (I'm assuming that your office is a DO) get brought in and a load of allowances get axed (think RM will go for ALL allowances if the CWU roll over)
That’s if they still have a Job . If we lose this dispute there will be loads of compulsory redundancies. Also With no union protection can you imagine the bullying and intimidation.
If we lose this dispute, I can see owner-driver coming in big time in DOs, possibly with RM aiming to make deliveries 100% owner-driver
Never ever happening. Tens of thousands of non driving staff.
SpacePhoenix is OBSESSED with non drivers for some reason
+ dispatch times; floor space, and acronyms for his machines
"The FBI machines won't have time to process the MILF second wave BBC time-stamp, and there is no space in the IR bay, so despatch times to DOs will be pushed back to 2099"

In fairness, he's clearly one of us and on board with the fight. All in this together, lads and lasses :thumbup

Isn’t the top and bottom of it that RM can change anything they want, except T&Cs of employment, without agreement.

So if they went nuclear, the worst they could do is all the tech related changes and working methods, new owner drivers, reduce union influence in local units and reduce the monetary amount on offer. Can’t change start/ end times.
Sick pay I think is a benefit rather than contractual?

So if red line is working later or without finish times and compulsory Sundays then they would have to get agreement from union (collective bargaining I think is the term) or alternatively individual consultation and a notice change… or whatever the legal route is without union.

Technically, yes.

But they need 115,000 workers to make their money for them. They can't survive without our consent.

Don’t forget the classic ‘my gut feeling is if anything dispatch times will be at least 3 hours later.’

Every time he posts that I have a drink, I’m rarely sober.

Seriously, I agree he’s one of us it’s just his refusal to acknowledge anything that goes on outside of his MC utopia.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It's going to be down to what changes we see to arrival times into inward MCs. Final dispatch times and night shift times in MCs ***WILL*** be made later at some point within the next year. Instead of getting two part filled lorries (normally double stackers), one early, one late, they send everything on the late one. If RM do away with the North<>South air runs then some of the mail WILL arrive later into inward MCs, probably by at least a couple of hours, so when that happens, final dispatch times (and by extension Mc nightshift start and finish times), will have to be made a couple of hours later (or however much later the mail comes in at) to accommodate the later arrival times

I think your right. They want everyone on the same pay and the delivery supplement is higher than the processing one.

Why couldn't the early shift finish it off ?

This isn’t a deal . In my opinion it’s designed to be unacceptable so the union would turn it down . What we’ve got here is nothing more than a union destroying exercise. I believe it’s for that reason Royal Mail doesn’t want a deal no matter how hard the union tries. Royal Mail Going to Acas is just for show, nothing more than a stunt . Reason for this is because we’re going to be taken over by somebody like VESA and they want Royal Mail to get rid of the union first. Problem is I don’t think they can destroy the union without doing incredible damage to the company or even destroying it

Not enough staff on early shift, they barely have enough staff for their own work and I believe that management want to remove hours from earlies and lates, I'm guessing that they anticipate a good chunk of our outward being sent direct to a hub somewhere, without being processed in any way by earlies/lates. Also there's not enough room for setups as earlies will initially have the the 2C and Tracked 48 setups in place, till whatever time it is that they get dispatched, they then start processing the DSA. By that time final dispatches to the DOs will be long gone, so the DOs would need to send their own vans to collect the residue.

For the work to make the final runs to the DOs (we done away with our wave 3 a few years ago), final dispatch times will have to be made later

Thats not a no strings pay deal ,and we all want to finish early not just people with kids, lets not split the working hours and workforce, one for all and all for one, reject it immediately,i look after an elderly parent and need to finish early too,so we all finish early or none of us do.
I thought the days of finishing early had long gone? At least in our office they have. A couple of business walks finish time is 1pm but town duties are 2.30-3.15 depending on day and rurals an hr later. That's if you work to time. Mostly people are finishing between 3 and 5pm regularly if they finish duty.
I think they are talking about family friendly hours mentioned in the original post
All finish earlier or no one finish earlier, there's a 2 tier workforce right there.

Can’t say I’ve read much of the above & have ignored most of CWU rambles, I’m going all out to help Simon destroy Royal Mail, I’ve switched off, they will now get the minimum effort from me, tracked & two loops per day looks like the future, I can handle that, looked @ nursing home in my frame that’s not been out since last Thursday, there’s 15 odd hospital appointment letters & 7 birthday cards, can’t see them going out tomorrow & after the 2 strike days maybe Saturday? Could be Monday or Tuesday, could be dead before they receive them, used to be bothered, now I do not give a flying f**k, Simon do what you f***ing like it no longer matters, I’m sure I speak for 80 90% of the staff? f**k em, life’s to short.
Just a thought, wouldn't it be an idea to prioritise the nursing home today and leave other loops. I understand it is frustrating and you are doing your job as instructed but surely you have a duty of care to prioritise that block now. Although Royal Mail do not care about the letters you can still rotate your loops so people don't miss hospital appointments. Nothing to do with me I know but some might be serious letters.
Our manager comes round & looks @ the fames & tells us which 4 loops to take, one of those loops usually comes back, the driver is told to concentrate on all tracked, letterbox collection, specials & doorstep pick ups, the nursing home was taken out & brought back by whoever covered my day off, said they could not get in, that’s how I know what letters it contained, because I chucked it back in :hmmmm
