Just my opinion - compulsory redundancies are the cake and all those wanting VR, the icing - the more that leave, the more they can replace with new fodder on inferior terms ...

Is it legal to replace compulsory redundancies with other workers

Just "announced" looking to make 84 redundant at Chester MC.
Obviously trying to pressure people to cross and come in this week and next..... I reckon this has been so ham-fisted any waverer will be convinced to stay out now. People are absolutely furious.

They will simply use agency when traffic figures are high in the short term such as winter months

But not all agency staff want to do what we do ... We have agency at ours on afternoons, doing parcels .. I came back the other day soaking wet through, having walked about 15 miles in torrential rain, and several turned to me and said, I couldn't do what you do, walk all that way in that weather!

I don't know about anywhere else, but our Agency staff deliver large packets at about 1/4 of the rate we do as well... I found one nearly in tears the other day because he had 88 packets to deliver in 6 hours...

In my MC loyal Angard crew lucky to get one four hour shift a week. RM Xmas Casuals getting all the hours. So agency staff are over it all too.

Obviously it comes with experience but in our it’s painful to watch. Scanning them into the pda , using about 30sq feet each to organise their parcels. It’s like a bomb site when they are there.

Can’t beat a york card with a list of your parcels, using a few York’s to seg your jobs and the york cardboard sleeves to create dividers in your van. That’s how me & my workmates did they Xmas bulkies
