then Thompson comes out with a list of things he demanded they agree to which were draconian and didn't come close with what was discussed in the talks....

Just seen on Daily Telegraph at 7.31pm that RM have made an improved pay offer and dropped the Sunday working. Hope it's true.

It's an industrial dispute between adults. That sort of language does nothing for our cause. It's embarrassing to be associated with it.

This dispute isn't personal. If it isn't Simon Thompson, it's Rico Back. If it's not Rico Back, it'll be someone else. The company has needed and tried to modernize for years. It's going to keep coming up whoever is in charge. Don't take it personally, and don't make it personal. The Union has done its best to make this about personalities and has resorted to playground politics, in order to obscure the fact that it had, and continues to have, no actual plan to resolve this dispute and get a positive outcome for members.
