We are all going to pay one way or another till the day we die.

I just hope I live long enough to get me moneys worth.

When I retire I'm going to spend my lump sum on wine, women and song - the rest I'll just squander. :dance

Its got to start at some point and therefore who ever retires one day before before the start date even if the start date was brought forward is going to lose out.

It is typical of the goverement though that they come up with something good that will help people , but deceide it wont start for a few more years yet. Free bus travel comes to mind.

Anyone would think GB dosent want Labour to win the next general election.

Joe Harris, NPC general secretary said: "The government's refusal to apply this new rule to existing pensioners and those retiring in the next two years, is grossly unfair"

Thats the solution start it April 2008 and do what Joe Harris suggests.

As many pensioners are claiming means tested benefits, surley they will be swopping benefits for a better pension that means the gov are paying less benefit and more pension so in terms of cost some of that extra cost will be offset by no longer paying benefit.
